The thread on the Big 4 got me thinking about trips. Is it too late for Calipari to schedule a late summer trip? I don't recall him taking any of his teams anywhere other than preseason tournaments, but I think it would be a very good idea to get all of these kids together in a non-basketball setting and let them come together as friends before Big Blue Madness & practices start. Maybe that's not something Cal believes in. I know Pitino, and I think Tubby, took teams on trips every few years.
Are those type of trips still allowed by the NCAA? Are any scheduled that I'm not aware of?
I'd like to see something like taking the Cats over to China to travel on the trains with and play against their national team for a 4 game/city tour. That would be cool.
There's nothing like building team unity over stories like players being lost out in the Alaskan wilderness on a snowmobile, like Anthony Epps did in the 1996-97 preseason.....
Does North Korea have a National Team?

Went to Canada before the 2010-11 season. You can only do it once every four years.
That sucks, one year away. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to do it as the defending champions next year when pulling the team together for a real run a repeat.
By the way, Canada shouldn't even count as a trip ... LOL
The NCAA is pitiful. Teams should at least be able to do it every 2 years, and maybe even every year if they are willing to sacrifice practice days to take the trip.
So does that count for the preseason tournaments too, like the Maui and Alaskan? Are teams only allowed to do one of those every so many years too?
we should be coming up on another trip to Maui, the 2014 field is set (no UK) so i think 2015 would be our year, Knight was on the last team to play there.
also would not mind seeing UK head to the Bahamas to play, would not miss that trip for sure.
I'm not sure they're going back to Maui. Calipari really disliked that trip. Can't stand the three games in three days events.
Any of these will work
Diamond Head Classic - Oahu, Hawaii
Old Spice Classic - Orlando, FL
NIT Season Tip-off - Madison Square Gardens
Puerto Rico Tip-off - San Juan, PR
Maui Invitational - Maui
Legends Classic - Brooklyn
Battle 4 Atlantis - Atlantis Resort, Nassau, Bahamas
Paradise Jam - US Virgin Islands
DirecTV Classic - Anaheim, CA
Charleston Classic - Charleston, SC
Great Alaska Shootout has men's & women's tournaments, so send both UK teams
Please copy the Athletics Department at once!
I bet they don't know these are available.
What did we ever do without the Internet?

Matt you sure it wasnt Kemba Walker he couldnt stand
Perhaps I'm wrong but didn't the NCAA pass a new regulation that allowed teams to take these trips more frequently than every 4 years last year?
Now that is funny!
Yes, and I also think that trip was helpful in recruiting Terrence Jones, with the stop in Portland on the way to the islands.
