To All You Feel Good Football Fans.. Do You Remember

  • The 20 down votes should send a clear messege of how the majority of us "blind fools" of fans feel toward this garbage.

Calm down. Both of you are close to making personal attacks.

Look, I'm willing to listen to an opposing view and am up for a debate. Joker's the coach next year and I'll support that to the best of my ability. Hell, by August I'll have myself convinced we can go 10-2 (again). What I'm not willing to listen to somebody bellow down like they're God with "you're wrong cause I said so" and taking shots, though. Defend your argument with some data or facts or STFU.

And this thread doesn't have -20 because the topic isn't without merit...the thread is @ -20 because the OP used a poorly worded/organized/thought out baiting-type post. Like I said before...NO ONE wants a successful FB program more than me. I didn't watch ONE game with my family, a tradition for years, because within the first 30 minutes of the WKU game they were saying "Well, only 30 something days until BB starts". I got pissed and left, and won't watch another FB game with that pack of fair-weathered fans.

    I'm not anti-Joker...I'm anti-getting-our-asses-handed-to-us-on-a-weekly-basis-by-teams-we-should-not-lose-to. Of the 7 games UK lost....FIVE were by 28+. IMO, that's not acceptable.

Tommy, you mentioned unconditional love...I have kids. Love them unconditionally. But, I'm not going to support them making poor choices. If they're wanting to rob banks/smoke crack/get married I'm not going to support those choices EVEN THOUGH I love them with all I am. Supporting UK's no different in my eyes. If UK thinks I'm going to sit back and not demand better BECAUSE I love them unconditionally...that ain't happening. I can love and demand better at the same time...it's not an either/or scenario. That's not negativity...that's me not wanting UK robbing banks/smoking crack/getting married (my way of saying embarrassing the fan base with fielding a less-than-competitive product). When you do love but don't demand better...that's when 6-6/5-7 are acceptable results.

And my apologies for the "blind fool" shot...it was my backhanded way of returning the " You simply don't have the understanding to know what your looking at. Obvious by your posts." volley. You want to debate...I'm all for it. You want to take personal shots...I can do that too. I prefer the former, *****BUT THE LATTER ISNT GONNA FLY HERE SO YOU"RE GONNA DROP IT*****.

I just posted a very long sensible reply to your post and the damn thing just disappeared. What the hell!

"He started it"? Really? That's almost something I'd say. Lol

Basically, I got no problem with you edge.
I take issues with those which refuse to shut the hell up with all the F'n negativity
Yes it was a tough year. No doubts. However, this team rallied despite of being booed at home (pathetic BTW) and messege board BS like what been posted here all year. They did something special. They deserve our true support right now to appreciate what they did (UT was still a r9 point road favorite) reflect over their accomplishments over the last 4 years (seniors) and deal with the fact that most will NEVER play another football game again.
so, after reading the garbage ALL YEAR (there is a reason so many look down at mess boards) I've decided that I am going to attack those posts that are nothing but the same old same old negative garbage.

Smug? I dont think so. Alot of these guys know me and they know who and how i am. Smug is so many people (im not calling them fans) carrying on like its soooo damn easy for UK to win 9-10 games a year, like UK just doesnt wanna win (some idiots have actually said as much) Or just puzzled over why Urban Meyer or jon Gruden isnt our coach like all ot would take is a phone call. And im smug??

Debate is fine. Ripping and bitching all the time is just outplayed. As far as personal attacks...you may excel but with me its like bringing a knife to a nuclear war. LOL.

I should have kept from personal attacks I admit, but how much more are we supposed to take bro? And no, it wasn't down voted for the OP. It was down voted because of the fact so many are so sick of the garbage. Please trust me when I day, I'm not in the minority here.
We have heard this ALL SEASON and for damn near a of us, this weekend was special on several levels. And all we want is to enjoy it and have hope for the future. In the end isnt that what sports is really all about?

  • I would say lets get this thread back on topic but the thread may be worse than the personal attacks. So lets get to the point where we can at least debate the past year or next year.

  • The point I was really trying to make was this...

How many posts have we seen where people have said that this last game renewed their hope again? Or reminded them of why they were fans in the first place? Or just how special a time or memory it was? Why not just focus on those positives for just a little while? Why not give people some time to just revile in the mmoment?

Easy E (aka WM) do you remember when we were walking off the field and that dude asked me to take a picture of him and his grandson with his phone? That dude was 84 years old ...84 YEARS OLD!!!! Not only did Mr. Bojangles storm the field (impressive in itself) but he was tearing up telling me that this was one of the most special moments he will ever share with his grandson.

That's what this game meant to so many. For me, I made friends and brothers for life! FOR THE LOVE OF THE ALMIGHTY LORD, lets just enjoy it and save the program saving posts for the spring.

That's all. I'm done. Or at least until someone else pokes the bear...Lmao.

I had forgotten about that in the midst of my own celebrating. I know what you are saying. I feel the same way. Of course if I had my way this would be a board with about 30 members. HAHAHAHA.

    Agreed.

Next year UK's suspect @ QB, WR, TE, and OLine. RB should be good to go if Clemons bounces back and Williams continues to develop. Defense should be solid, but replacing Trevathan/Guy will be tough. Fact is the team could improve by leaps and bounds and STILL go 4-8.

If Joker can be competitive in all games (<14 points against the big boys, <7 against the rest) and go with that 4-8 record, I can live with that and will even support a 4th year (like my opinion matters...but). Taking 5 butt-kickings and 3 moral victories ain't gonna cut it.

Again I disagree, however as long as your down, this is a disagreement secant discuss civilly.

I dont think we will be nearly be as bad offensively as some think.

WRs - D. Collins is a playmaker and IMO would have made a major impact this year had he not been injured and as long as he can come back right (Mcaskill never did) he should be a very nice player. We also have King coming back. Hopefully Gene can finish strong, and we have other guys like Robinson and our small army of TEs that could give either Max or Towells a very solid group of receivers.

QB- as long as Newton doesn't start I am excited about the position. Towells could be special Ans Max as a stupid fast release and a Mega strong arm.

RBs- Clemons has AA potential. Cant say enough about Williams. Hopefully Gainer sees some snaps and George learns how to
use his body and fall forward. Anyway, we are deep are RB.

  • As for the defense. CANNOT replace a Guy or Danny T, but I LOVE the youth on this D. Tons of potential all over the field. Lowery, Faulkner, Bennett, Dupree, Simpson...it goes on and on. And we could have something special potentially if we can get some of these D line recruits eligable.

This could potentially be the most athletic D we have had in a long long time.

The problem is we play in the SEC. Our schedule will be brutal. And when you play 2 or 3 (or maybe even more than that )top 10 or even top 5 teams blowouts are gonna happen. Arkansas was #3 and was blown out by Bama. It just happens.

Anyway, I really think this team could surprise a lot of people on both sides of the ball.

Edge, I'm curious... why would you NOT support your kids getting married? I mean, the crack and robbing banks, I understand... but NO MARRIAGE!?! Do you (or will you) allow them to date? Move out of the house when they are older?

No offense, just curious (as hell) biggrin

Just mess'in with ya... I'm sure you didn't mean to word it the way it sounded. thumbsup

Your argument has a lot of "woulda shoulda coulda" in it. TE seriously under-performed this year. We agree on Newton, but Max looked suspect against tough defenses (see the 2 ints 0-4 performance against USC). He IS a true freshman, so there's room to grow.

Problem is, there's such a learning curve for a QB to effectively run this offensive scheme. It didn't click for Woodson OR Hartline until halfway thru their Jr. seasons. So to lay the hopes of the offense on a So. QB and a true Freshman may be asking a little much. "Dumbing down" the scheme, like they did for Roark in the UT game may be an option, but I'm not sure they'll try that.

WR was a sore spot for much of the season, now whether that was the passer or the receiver is a whole other debate. King had games where he just disappeared. Collins was a stud in HS, but does he bounce back? Bookie may move into the slot/wildcat. Other than that....not a whole lot of proven, reliable depth.

OLine may be the most unknown commodity. Our "seasoned line" looked like swiss cheese most of the season, but performed better in the UGA and UT games. Hopefully the backups can build on that momentum and go from there.

Like I mentioned above...the team as a whole could improve by leaps and bounds and still finish with a worse record than they did this year. Upside is it looks like they replace a more difficult Arkansas team with a more winnable Missouri. 6-6 will earn Joker all the time he wants. Anything less will depend on how the team looks. Close losses and being competitive will help calm a rabid fan base looking for blood. A bunch of big losses will not sit well with the fans...especially if it starts out of the gate with Louisville.

Why not... beats being too serious all the time. Fans fighting fans over "who knows best" is way more silly, than any levity ever thought about being.
