"Syracuse University basketball has been under NCAA investigation for a period of “years,” a source with knowledge of the case told CBSSports.com.
That source said the school has received a letter of preliminary inquiry from the NCAA.
The specific nature of the alleged violations was not disclosed by the source but the transgressions were described as both major and wide-ranging in nature. The investigation also encompasses football but is believed to primarily involve basketball. Syracuse has been penalized only once by the NCAA in a major case according to the association's legislative database. That was in 1992 in a case that focused on extra benefits in the basketball program."
"The ongoing investigation has apparently grown larger in scope. When asked to characterize how wide-ranging the probe might be, a source with knowledge of the case told CBSSports.com: 'Throw a dart at the [NCAA] Manual [and you would hit a violation by Syracuse].'"
Can I get an "oh shit"? Lol.
Probe has been going on for .

Well, Jim might not be around too much longer.
This could blow up to be a big deal. Then again, the NCAA seems to love them some Big East schools and they've certainly bungled the Miamuh investigation beyond belief.
That's funny. I distinctly remember Bob Knight lauding Boeheim for winning his 900th game recently and for "doing it the right way." Funny how those agendas and narratives work huh?
But to be fair, maybe some of these allegations at Syracuse occurred before 1976, the year in which Knight still lives.
Yeah, and Jim Valvano is basically a god now, and he was dirty as all hell. It's funny how things get remembered.
I've always despised Boeheim and thought he was crooked as they come. I hope they slam that university like no other. Just never have liked them in the least. Don't forget they'll be an ACC school next year so they may get a pass from the NCAA again. You know how they love letting those ACC schools skate by by either ignoring their transgressions or by bungling the investigations.
I wonder if Boeheim will retire is Syracuse gets slammed? And to the original poster..Oh shit.
Thats hilarious because thats the first thing I thought of when I heard this story. I thought funny how Bob Knight recently talked about how much he respected the Syracuse program and Boeheim for the way they go about their business yet he has no respect for UK and Cal. Interesting!!!
And I love you last comment by the way. Hilarious.
