I'm sorry I should have said your not real bright. LOL. Just messin.
I like how you didn't include UofL in tier 2. Maybe we CAN get along.
Agreed. Its actually no knock on Maryland at all.
If we don't get them, we'll get some others. That's just the way it is in my opinion.
That is all.
I don't want to start anything, but they said that C.J. Leslie was a lock for the lotto after one year where ever he went, not the case. Same for Harrison Barnes, Jared Sullinger, Perry Jones, Fab Melo. The list goes on and on. What school you go to matters. Period, and NO, and i MEAN NO, school has proven they can make that happen like Kentucky. That is why Julius Mays transferred here, that is why Ryan Harrow transferred here, that is why Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin, and even Willie Cauley-Stein came here. Why we have had 4 straight #1 recruiting classes. IT is the Kentucky Effect, and yes you could win this battle, but ANYONE that we wanted to get but went elsewhere has struggled, greatly. Good luck with that, and 70-30 in favor of maryland was a good joke, and your welcome for your daily entertainment, but you will not get anymore from me, good day sir. P.S. we have been getting ahold of them somehow, and still appear to be the leaders without a cell phone number as you claim, so you can't even beat us with an inherient advantage.
"your not real bright"
If I know how to spell bright then you can bet I know how to spell you're. Quick typin brother.
So are assuming that this Teen Wolf-level of recruiting by Cal will continue for the next 10 years without pause? Forget the Harrisons. Let's just agree you lead for them. Whatever.
But this overall level of expectations fascinates me. Because with all due respect - and Kentucky is college hoops royalty - but even you guys were in the NIT five years ago. This isn't a video game. Eventually you're going to have a crap recruiting year, right?
Barnes, Sullinger, and Jones all would have been lottery picks if they came out last year. Barnes possibly the #1-2 pick. Sullinger would easily be a lotto pick if it weren't for his back problems (are you going to argue he wouldn't have had those if he went to Kentucky?!).
I really enjoyed the Teen Wolf reference.
I have wondered that myself. When Roy Williams first really hit his stride at UNC in the mid-2000s, I wasn't sure it would ever end. They were literally hand-picking every, single guy they wanted for about 3-4 years but they've cooled off. Sure they're stilling pulling in their share of 5-star guys but not at the same level.
I have wondered if/when Cal's recruiting at UK will reach a certain saturation point.
Good God... another pissing match.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
It will cool off at some point. Not gonna be 2013 though.
Good comparison. And I say all this because eventually: Your coach's passion dims (John Thompson is a good example). Or you become such a favorite that elite kids start spurning you to do their own thing (This has happened to Duke to an extent). Or maybe the coach leaves (Arizona hasn't quite been the same since Lute left. UConn will likely deal with that post-Calhoun).
Kentucky will always have the brand "Kentucky" to sell and so it will always be good. But I don't think this level of recruiting is sustainable anywhere for more than 5 or 6 years. I was really just checking the fan base's temperature. Do you guys get this or are you expecting the No. 1 class every year for eternity?
This is rival fans ribbing each other. Its all in fun. Big difference from LOD pissing matches.
You don't honestly think the Harrisons would need to stay at Maryland 3-4 years to be lottery picks, do you? They are lottery picks no matter where they go to school. Likewise, the Harrison twins make any team into a T10 team. The Harrisons won the AAU national championship with Shaq Cleare, and with other players like Jake Layman (most productive U18 player), and a 7'1 Euro who draft sites have as a lotto pick this year, they would compete for a national championship at Maryland as well. I think Maryland can chalk up a supporting cast as good as Kyle Wiltjer and Willie Cauley.
There's no need to show any disrespect. Kentucky is the most distinguished cbb program of all-time, and in this recruitment you have a lot going for you. But I wouldn't count out Maryland in this recruitment, and if you do you might be disappointed.
You might be surprised by how good Kyle Wiltjer and Willie Cauley are. The Terps would have taken them both without hesitation.
i have never heard of anyone of those guys for maryland except for the guy in houston cuz i live there. they are a bunch of nobody's
Oh really is that why when the coaches were allowed to call and/or text recruits, Cal called the Twins right at the stroke of Midnight and they put him on speaker phone? The Twins are as close to a lock to UK as you can get. Before you try and say that Cal didn't have the numbers to his top priorities in the 2013 class, is just moronic. Just face it that you don't have a shot at them.
Still a pissing match. This one is actually fun to watch, though.
Why didn't Barnes come out then? Jones? Sullinger? They didn't come out, period. If they went to UK they would have been bigger and the option to come back wouldn't have been that appealling. And i would like to have a civil conversation, then is no need to provoke me with comments like the end of that post. Point being, that if Barnes, Jones, Leslie, or Melo come here, they are instant can't miss lotto pick where as idk now. And Macterp, why not? We will always have playing time, a great coach till Cal leaves, rabid fan base, great support from the university. I think this continues till Cal leaves, yes leaves, not retires, 3-4 years max, but we can get another title or 2 before he does leave you know? HAHA.

Clearly, you are.
I don't play message board games. I told you EXACTLY what I meant. People here can tell you I've said all along UK or Maryland. I've never once said or implied that the twins are automatically coming to UK. Ever.

It almost always goes through cycles where even the best of the best can't sustain it. I won't say Cal will have a "crap" year -- he works too hard for that and has too much to offer now at UK -- but I do expect it to level off eventually. We've seen K and Roy W get on similar rolls in the past, and it became saturated. The one difference, however, is those guys didn't have a steady parade of one-and-dones. If more of these guys were sticking around, it would be harder for Cal to convince the elite kids to come.
Someone asked earlier why we were letting Maryland fans come over and give us grief. I don't mind it at all. That's what sports message boards are supposed to be about. Personally, I've never been interested in going to a message board where everyone sat around and thought the same way. Like you, I think this has been pretty fun, and certainly an interesting discussion. As long as everyone's following the rules, it's all good.
Geez, walk away from the board for a couple of hours and you let all kinds of trash in the door.
No doubt they are both great players, and I would be happy to have them on my team. I'm just saying that both schools can support the twins with the talent necessary to compete for a national championship, and unless UK can pull one of the two big fish (Randle or Parker) than the supporting cast at each school should be pretty equal in terms of talent.
I'm happy to have a level-headed discussion with the posters here about the relative strengths of each schools potential supporting casts, and there seem to be enough civil posters here for that happen.
