"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart 11/4/12
IF what Minter said is true, then it just sounds like the opening rounds of negotiations to me...
Just across the twitter wire... "Monday, I'd say it was 25%. Today, it's about 50%." - Greg Brohm on likelihood of Petrino at UK
I think Minter was referring to Phil Fulmer
GEEZ..Bobby P IS NOT worth 3 mil...he should be lucky and thankful to even get another gig..considering his past...not just the assistant thing..cheating thing...but also for leaving programs in messes!! MB will not hire BP..bet on it!
WE need Kirby Smart...or Bud Foster..we need a defensive guy that will bring a toughness and swagger to the CATS. I dont want a Dykes..nor any other Mumme-type HC thats goes on gimmicky offense and NO defense...I wanna Defense that holds opponets to 20 and under on a regular basis. Do this and you have a shot to win all your games.
Id love Smart..hes my #1 choice...but im not Mitch B! Id also get 100% behind a Fulmer with Zook as DC package!!!
1 things 4 sure...as fans..WE, the BBN...need to get firmly behind our next coach..lets fill the seats next year..buy into whoever is here and his schemes. I think MB hits a grandslam with this hire..solidifing his status as an elite AD..with Cal, Henderson, Mitchell,..and now..whoever he hires as football HC!
Larry Glover and Wildcat_Recruiting also putting out tweets that UK is in negotiations with BP. I'm not sure who actually runs the WR twitter account but I do know their bball recruiting info is spot on.
Why do people here keep saying he left programs in shambles? Kragthorpe had more talent than U of L has ever had. Fired from Ark, left team that was pre season NC contender. Smith is a friggin idiot. And who cares about the Falcons. He tried knew it wasn't gonna work and left like a bitch in the night. Arkansas was a little shaky with legal situations but he didn't cost then any more money than they were gonna spend anyway. Smith makes $500k and any legal fees come out of the $$ they were gonna pay Petrino. The teams can't compete because the guys who took over a idiots. The same talent with BP NC contender, w/o BP they are left in shambles. I just don't get. They have the same kids playing just a different HC.
Now I'm not saying Arkansas didn't have litigation to deal with. But that doesn't affect what's going on on the field or it shouldn't anyway. There were no sanctions by the NCAA at Louisville or Arkansas.

Outside of the senior class bobby p did leave uofl in shambles. Talent doesn't hide. The lower classs were in bad shape when bobby p left. Much like what brooks did with us.
Law you're awful high and mighty to have been proven wrong throughout this whole thread. There is no legal action against Petrino nor Arkansas. If there is prove it? Don't give me the confidentiality crap again. Higher qualified people get passed over everyday for less qualified people in all kinds of business. Do you think this is something new?
BP exposed the University of Arkansas to numerous types of legal action. That is an indisputable fact. That does not mean that the actions themselves were pending. It does not mean that actions are not pending or are not being considered. You are the idiot that decided it was a "fact" that no legal action had been taken, not I. A "fact" I see you've still never supported with anything other than your semi-literate ranting about being right.
Do you understand what exposure to liability is? This thread was about Mitch Barnhart paying or not paying nearly $5 million dollars per year to BP because BP exposed Arkansas to legal liability. Not about never hiring him. Not about hiring him for $2.5 million. It was about the logic behind not giving a $1.5 million dollar raise to someone fired for cause. Not about your imaginary business that you run in your fantasyland where legal liability doesn't exist unless a suit is actually filed.
Also reality is not your fantasyland where hiring your mistress to a state job without conforming to state laws governing hiring is "higher qualified people getting passed over... for less qualified people."
I'm not high or mighty. It's just that you are so low and ignorant that, in comparison, I can see how you could get confused.
Fact is no legal action has been taken. Another fact is when a poster starts calling others ignorant you know you've proved them so wrong they start acting childish. The thing I want to know, when someone has you on the ropes in the court room, as I do now, do you call the opposing colleague a "poopy head"?
Were they really lacking talent or just badly coached and schemed? I feel like it was the later.
Petrino would've won 10 + games with that group of "shambles".
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
At UK ... maybe.

First of all, Petrino as a FOOTBALL COACH is worth well over 3 million a year. Petrino as a PERSON is not worth a dime.
Secondly, as much as I love the thought of Kirby Smart, he is not coming to UK. Also, he doesn't really run the defense at Bama as much as everyone gives him credit for. He is a great coach and can almost pick his school at this point. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Tennessee if the Vols don't get Petrino.
Finally, I do agree about getting behind whoever is selected. I am looking forward to the future of UK football, and I think it will be bright considering what Mitch did when he was backed into a corner with basketball and hired VERY well in Cal.
