The Louisville cardinals center Gorgui Dieng has been diagnosed with a broken wrist and will be out indefinately.
That's a big injury for them...opens that lane up to Goodwin and gives Noel a mis-match at his position.
As much as I hate UofL I hate this for Dieng. He's a really nice player and seems like a nice young man.
Too bad for the Cards. I wanted to beat them at full strength.
I know this wont be popular with a few UK fans but Im really sorry he broke his wrist both because he is just a kid with probably a very good year ahead of him and because if we beat UL their fans will say its because he broke his wrist and if UL still wins they will say how much better they are because they beat us w/o Dieng. So I wish he is able to play in that game both for his sake and so there will be no excuses either way.
That sucks for the guy, sorry to hear it.
Terrible news. Not that I have any love for UL or its players. I just don't want to hear the excuses if we beat them.
We all need to remember that this is still a young man in college, not a millionaire pro. Even if he plays for the Cards, take the high road and think of the kid.
Don't worry Rick will come out and say he is out until February and miraculously he will be healed and ready to go 12-29...
Somehow I believe this will happen.
My brother-in-law recently broke his wrist and has been out of his cast for over a week. He can barely move is hand in a downward/follow through position. Even if he is back he will be extremely limited if he plays shortly after having his cast removed.
By the way, anybody know if it's his right or left wrist?
Nate, it was his left wrist that was broken.
I haven't seen anyone do otherwise. I haven't looked on the old site though.
Your right, this is just a kid and I repeat I hope for his sake that he will be able to play in the UK--UL game at the end of Dec. but I think it will depend upon the type of break it really is. Its about 1 month exactly till the game and Im thinking it might be difficult for someone to come back fully in 2 months from a broken hand. I do also hope he plays because of how the UL fans will undoubtedly will spin the outcome of the game regardless of who wins.

Just read where he is having surgery and expected to miss 4-6 weeks
That timeline would be very close to putting him back into action for the UK game, lets hope he makes it, like I said before for his sake and to keep down the UL fans excuses no matter the outcome of the game. Thanks for the info.
Wasn't a good week for UofL and wrists as Bridgewater broke his as well on his non throwing hand. He'll still play against Rutger though but could be limited.
For what it's worth I heard tonight from a UL student that has a frat brother serving as team manager that Teddy has had a dinner paid for he wasn't supposed to. He also said the NCAA is aware. I assume this is a minor violation, but thought you all might like to know.
