I think there will be more than one but my pick is Cody Quinn. I noticed last year that he not only did a good job of coverage but he came up and played the run very well also - a mark of a good cover corner. He was a bit undersized last year at around 165 so I'm hoping he has been hitting the weights and taken advantage of the new nutritional fitness program and added 10-15 pounds. If so - watch out, this guy is going places IMO.

I think people undervalue Miles Simpson. He was UK's 3rd leading tackler from the hybrid lb/s spot last year..with 71? stops? Miles is a former star tailback..his athleticism is good for LB. I think he can play well in space if needed, but I hope Stoops makes use of his speed as a edge rusher. Cobble,Rumph, Big Z, and Bud Dupree will eat up blockers..our LB's will have to make plays and clean up..make no mistake..Miles Simpson isnt our best defender..but he is a redshirt junior...this is his 4th year with us..lots of players make a big leap from thier sophomore year to thier junior one..I see Miles getting around 100 stops..a handful of sacks (4-6) a couple picks and a FF or two..I think this would qualify him for breakout defender.
Miles plays hard..hes a tough, intelligent kid that wraps up and isnt flashy..but hes solid fundamentally and has more than enough speed and agility to play well on the outside. I think if he works on shedding blocks..he will be just fine.
That said..I look for Josh Forrest to step up soon..his talent is high for LB..might not be this year..but next year..as a junior..I see Josh being a big time defender.. 6'3 ..could be 245..with that quickness and athleticism..kid has the tools..lets hope he has the heart and work ethic to put them to use on the field!!
Im gonna say Glenn faulkner finally breaks out!
Simpson played ok but that spot in Minters defense is made to be able to make plays compare Simpsons year to Guy.
Miles is tough, most kids would have been out the rest the season after the knee injury but not him, he told em to put a brace on it and he battled on. That's the primary reason he didn't finish the season strong he was hurt from the middle of the year on. Even small knee injuries are hard to over come. The crazy thing is he may not even start but I think he will play a lot especially in Nickel/Dime packages. I'm hearing he's cross training at all LB positions to be able to provide depth.
I look for Nate Willis and Khalid to have break out years. Make no mistake Nate will knock your head off plus he can fly. The good thing is he can play any position in the secondary, he's only 185# but he is physical. If Quinn, Tiller and Harmon can shore up the corner spots I look for Nate to maybe slide back to Free Safety, if they can't he will on one side.
I like Khalid Thomas to break out. He had a nice Freshman year and definitely looks the part. I'd also love to see Faulkner do something but I'm taking a wait and see approach with him.
Sorry, must have gotten confused. I'm talking about the linebacker that played alot last year as a true freshman. For some reason I was thinking his name was Khalid. Oh well. You guys know who I'm talking about. LOL
Nevermind!!! I think it just came back to me. Maybe it was Khalid Henderson? Help me out. Anyway the guy I'm thinking about looks to have alot of potential.
Edit: Maybe I should have went back and read the first page of the thread. Yes, it's Khalid Henderson. Need to get my head out of the gutter I guess.

haha. Khalid Thomas will be a freshman at UK this fall. He is the brother of Kadeem "Pancho."
Khalid Henderson played a lot this past season. He is probably who you are thinking of.
I think Kadeem played well in the limited snaps he got. Daron Blaylock has the tools to be a star..kid is quick and will knock the snot out of folks. THis defense has more talent returning than some think..it was horribly misused or unmotivated under Joker. Stoops,Brown,Eliot will ensure we at least play with heart and fire.
