How about this quotes from Iowa State's Royce White on MKG:
"I don't like that kid. He's too hyped up. He's not as good as they think he is. He's a kid. I'm a man."
Interestingly, sitting courtside covering that game if there was any player too hyped up it was White, who played great but continually trash-talked and acted a fool during that game.
White is a gifted player, but also a idiot. His mouth assured a UK victory and it will assure he falls a few spots lower in the nba draft. Some people just can't shut up, even for their own good.
Admittedly, I'm a huge Royce White fan. I'm just a sucker for big guys with versatile games and I think he has a very interesting backstory and I root for him to do well.
But for the life of me, I'm just not sure how you can not like MKG. Unless you have to go against him one on one
Well, I thought White was awful talented, but I lose all respect for a sore loser. Maybe one day, he'll grow up and realize how juvenile those comments make him look.
Very stupid coming from a guy who has severe anxiety. Maybe its because his mouth writes checks that his ass can't catch.
I will say this I love White's game. It is Magic-esque including the trash talking but without the charisma to make him nearly as likeable.
He is picking the wrong fight going after Kidd-Gilchrist who is universally like for his work ethic and humility. Sounds to me like a bunch of sour grapes from losing back in March and not getting the recognition he believes he deserves.
There's a reason a guy who is probably a Top 5 talent in this draft is projected to go anywhere from 20-32 in the draft and it's mainly crap like this and his anxiety. On your NBA draft media day there is absolutely no reason to go after anyone else it should be about you and how you're going to help whomever drafts you. White probably doesn't even get he's hurting himself with crap like this. Another guy with Million dollar game and a 10 cent brain.
He's going to seriously burn a team with his psychological issues.
@Highway_30 (Royce White) #BBN @MikeGillie14 I think he is VERY talented, my comments referred to our age difference, have nothing but respect for UK and Coach Cal!
HAHA an agent probably just got done screaming at this kid....I can't believe he'd be that classless or dumb the day before the NBA draft.
Maybe it's just because I like him. I don't know. But I can't help but feel like Royce White is a little bit misunderstood.
Yeah, he was talking trash and pushing his chest out against UK but I think he just got caught up in the moment. He was playing well against a team with six draft picks on it.
But when I interviewed him after the UConn game he was one of the most engaging interviews I've ever done.
Fair, but you can't then go say you don't like a kid because he's 'too hyped up' when that's exactly what you were doing. He may be misunderstood (and probably is) but if you can't control your mouth it eventually puts you in situations you don't want to be in.
During a game I don't have a problem with it. Some guys it helps them play to talk trash (Reggie Miller comes to mind) and anyone can get caught up in the moment of a hard fought game (see Anthony at the end of the Final Four game with UL). But this is just different, he's taking a shot at another player projected higher on a media day. There's no reason whatsoever to do that, and with the anxiety issues already out in the open it doesn't seem like a good idea to hint to teams that you may be bitter and a bit of a headcase as well.
I know some people were already questioning him from chats and things based on the fact that he chose Iowa State over Kentucky. While the anxiety was a large part of that I've seen guys at ESPN hint that it was also because White wanted to guarantee he was the man more than he wanted to have a chance at the title.
Also Chris one reason Royce played so well against us is we Maravichd him. We went out and said if one guy can beat this team then he's going to do it by himself and we didn't double and more or less let him go. Terrence's main job in that game was to stay in front of him and not foul out. Will never forget during the one run Iowa State made in the 2nd half before we ended it Teague left Scott Christopherson to help Jones stop a White drive and of course that lead to the one 3 Christopherson hit all day. Cal immediately called a time out to get onto to Teague and remind him of the plan and before they even got to the huddle Jones lit into Marquis about it. That was one of my favorite moments of the season because it affirmed how special this team was. Marquis was trying to help Terrence because it was during that time that Royce had those 2 HUGE dunks on Jones and he didn't want it to happen again. At the same time Jones was angry because you could tell he didn't care how many times Royce dunked or got by him as long as we were up on the scoreboard that's what matters.

I really liked him before these comments and the retraction makes it even worse.
Am I the only one who sees "the next" Ron Artest in White, from the standpoint of psychological issues/behavior?
It wasn't at today's Draft Media Day, it came from a long day SI's Pablo Torre spent with White for a story in SI.
Thank you for the clarification Matt. I saw all the tweets coming out today and assumed it was draft media day since that is today. Still doesn't change my opinion a lot if you're doing an interview with SI you have to know better than to take a shot like that when you haven't even been drafted yet.
Big difference.... Ron Artest is stupid, Royce White has an illness. He'll work it out.
I think White will be the steal of the draft. He is a unique talent. 275 lb Jason Kidd.
I agree with all that Chris said.

White's pretty stupid in his own right too. Steal $100 dollars worth of gear from Mall of America, beat up a mall security guard, steal a laptop while on Minnesota's team and now this too. White has an anxiety issue but that isn't the whole deal here and never has been.
White also came out and said it was in response the MKG saying before the Iowa State game that White wasn't Lebron James and he wasn't unguardable. If he had said something before the game I don't think I'd even have a major issue with the comments he made here it's more the fact that he didn't say anything until he was in a meeting with an SI writer. When your comments are coming out 3 months after the comments your responding to it's never going to look good.
I don't really have an issue with the confidence and "swagger"....White is a helluva player. If he thinks MKG is overhyped and such, that's his opinion. But for the life of me, why would he say he doesn't like the kid?
Of the statement, only the first sentence really is confusing!
Pretty sure Royce White's legal items happened prior to his diagnosis...
No they've known he's had anxiety issues since he was in high schools according to the ESPN article Myron Medcalf wrote on the issue. The theft and the assaults had nothing to do with his anxiety whatsoever.
In terms of opponents, the big men in the Big 12 are nothing compared to the gripping anxiety disorder that so often made Royce White a shell of himself. But now he's getting help -- and he wants others to as well.
Isn't he the guy that rode 900 miles in the car with his uncle to get the game.
Then, after a quick meeting with MKG, had to turn around and ride 900 miles back. I can see how that would get on your nerves.
You win. He is a douche.
Don't make excuses for him. He's a punk. A damn good basketball player at that, but a punk nonetheless. Having anxiety issues (whether it is REALLY an "illness" or not is debatable) does not make you commit crimes, talk sh*t when it puts you out of line, etc. I assure you he will be trouble in the NBA.
