Wasn't an article and he didn't say it. It was something someone here (May have been Chris, JDrum or Matt) saying they were hearing if Cal brought in more inside players that Wiltjer might consider a transfer. Can't link it or quote it. Possibly Chris or Matt may recall. Remember it though, because I over-reacted to the rumor of him possibly considering leaving after just one year and got torched for it.
I'll be real shocked if any of those guys said it because in this business you don't say transfer rumors unless they have the truth on the situations. Making random posts without a good source is not good when you have a sports online site. You won't stay in business long.
A 5 That can shoot a darn good three at that
Now you say Kyle DID NOT say it and that someone here (definitely NOT any of the RESPONSIBLE persons you mentioned) said it because you remember being "torched" for over-reacting to that NEWS? I suggest you search the archives of your own posts and find the one you "remember" and use it for evidence of your seemingly off-base speculation about what Kyle might do. According to your standards I could start a thread and say "Witljer to North Korea?" and speculate that he wants to start a basketball program there...it would just as valid as yours because I would offer the same evidence as you have...NONE!
WTF are you going on about? I was simply referring to a post on this board a year ago that I remmeber. Not sure, but I think it was Matt May who posted an off hand remark about some word that Kyle might consider transferring if the interior got too crowded. I took the post the wrong way and kind of went off a little bit - as I said I over-reacted at the time, but that is one of the reasons I remember that post. It's also one of the things that make me think there is the possibilty that Kyle could consider a transfer this year.
It is something I use to base my speculation on. Whether you or anyone else accept it or believe it it is not something I give much of a damn about and I'm not going back and searching posts over a year old just because you're being a little prick about it. If its that big of a deal to you - YOU go back and look for it. I know its there. Whether you or anyone else remembers it or believes me is not something I give a ratzazz about.
I'm the one saying be patient. LOL. his body needs to fill up.
That;s why he didn't play after the first 10 games. You always hear it, after the season you have all kind of scouting reports and teams adjust to you. Sometime's it's hard to adjust to you during the season. (you will see breakdown of his minutes, not detailed..)
Again, you made points i made during the long comments. Wiltjer does play better with better players around him, however every team in the league knows this now..you can also attack him and get easy bucket.
That's why, you see it when WCS or Nerlens or anyone come support, it's easy to dish it out for easy bucket. A lot of times it was under the basket dunk. What you saw against florida for example, WCS was able to not help and keep his body on Patrick Young (for last 8 minutes, which was a reactionary response to 4 fouls, however). Which completely screwed florida. Before that it was support, which actually made penetrating Florida guard dish for easy dunk. Happened multiple times.
BTW, different topic. Did anyone notice that WCS not coming for blocking the guard had much better impact on the game than him coming to support? It's like "oh damn, WCS is there, if he comes to support i have my dish." Then, when he got 4th foul, risk of getting 5th he stopped helping and stayed with Young. Which allowed mentally to affect the guards, and also position well against Young, and finally get good position for rebound.
This team has a lot of problems. Focusing on the one guy is just unrealistic. Poythress has been as bad as Kyle on defense but for different reasons. Archie and Harrow have been very soft on occasion. Our defense completely surrendered on occasion for runs of 15 points even when Noel was playing. This team has issues, talent yes but issues. When will people understand that it is to the program's advantage to have guys who have some flaws they need to work on over a few years.
Little late on this but it makes ZERO sense for him to transfer and sit out a year.. If you speak to NBA Scouts/GM's and I know someone who has him transferring makes less sense than just coming out for the draft and going 2nd round. He has a unique skill and would get picked. Would more than likely get a 2nd round guarantee if he chose to do so. Its not as whacky as many fans believe. They arent seeing the bigger picture.
Who could Wiltjer guard in the NBA other than maybe the water boy. He is soft, slow, a poor rebounder. and has trouble getting his shot off against college defenses.
IMO if he returns next year he will be lucky to get 7 to 10 minutes per game.
Did you read any of the other post, or did you just click to the end and type?
When did Gonzaga get a NBATeam?
Agree w/Taco-and no, he's never made his intentions public, as far as that goes-BUT, ever hear of "the writing on the wall?!" And Young & Malone?? Seriously??
You've spoken to these NBA folks?? Seriously?? Sorry-that big pic is a little blurry to me as we'll...
I can't buy this. He's such a defensive liability that I just don't see him making an NBA squad.
I think people have a hard time seeing a player in the NBA that is not an NBA All-Star. Wiltjer can and will be a solid role player in the NBA. A player at his height that can shoot from where he can is not the most commonly found element. A player like that with a team friendly, rookie contract is even rarer.
Just because he can't guard Lebron and play 45 minutes a game in the league, doesn't mean he won't fit a team very well.
Kw is the only deep threat on the roster next year. He has to stay or uk will get zoned to death and not win it all. He can make teams play man vs UK and that is a losing proposition with the size and skill those guys will bring. I bet he leads the sec in threes next year. What team in the league starts five guys that are all capable of abusing kw? Nobody. The other four can be aggressive and he can just force his guy to shoot jumpers. He is a decent rebounder already. He ain't going nowhere.
I just don't get that people can't see that Wiltjer is not potentially an NBA player. He has just not matured physically at this time, but he will. Once he does, he will get stronger and quicker which are his too weakest points right now. He already can handle the ball, pass, shoot, and probably has the best idea of court spacing on the team. It is a little disappointing that he hasn't had more Ole Miss type games but he showed in the first half of that game what potential he does have if he puts it all together.
All people are saying is that he's not an NBA player at this time clearly.
Except for that one guy a few posts up above that thinks he will be a really solid role player in the league.
Well thats just a bad joke sorry.
Uhhhh....-if shooting is his calling card, what's happened the last 8-10 games?? Could it be that opponents are getting in his grill and guarding him? (spoiler alert: they do this in the NBA)-w/ all due respect to anyone that believes KW will draw pro checks on this side of the pond, it's my belief that you don't watch the League very often-
Yeah, well, that's the thing. If you're a shooter and you suck otherwise you have to *always* be a good shooter, i.e. you have to be Kyle Korver. Wiltjer shot 37% this year, which doesn't even put him in the top 100 in the NCAA and certainly not tops on our team. FYI, Korver shoots 42% for his career in the league and is shooting about 46% this year. Thirty seven percent is pretty piss poor from NCAA range when you're a 6'10" shooter.

So you are a specialist on wall writings? Cool, you should make alot money with that. lol
But in reality, next year's group will actually help Kyle perform. With this year's team, the opposing team only had to put stoppers on Mays and Kyle, the talent next year will be so great, teams will forget about Kyle again and leave him open.
That doesn't help Kyle in the long run.
