It will probably help his shooting performance, however his minutes will probably be severely limited over this year. If Randle comes he may not play very much at all.
Kyle will be a you who can play the 4 and 5. He will be a key guy off the bench. He will also be one of our best shooters.
These are both true. I don't see him playing more than ~12-15 minutes per game if Randle comes, though.
Next years squad will not get zoned very much due to their ability to shoot the ball. Poythress can shoot, Young, Harrison, and Wiltjer. Kyle isn't going anywhere the reason he came to UK was to practice and play against the best players in the country to help him get to the next level. Next year will be a huge year for Kyle because next year teams will have to double the post more and will allow shooters to spot up and knock down a ton of three's and Young and Harrison can really fill it up! Kyle knew when he came to UK he would probably be at least a three year player and more than likely a four year guy that will help our team next year especially from deep. All this Wiltjer to the Zags come on people Kyle played great in stretches but due to our lack of inside outside play hurt Kyle and teams where able to run him off the three point line, next year we will have a point guard who knows how get players the ball in a position to score and he will due wonders for Alex and Kyle just sit back and watch.
Kyle can shoot with the best of them, the big problem is he has no speed to keep up with the post moves of bigger faster players. Guards blow past him as well. If he is to play any at all he must work on his D a ton this off season. Remember people it was his D that kept him on the bench. Next yr he will far back on the bus if he does not improve his d
I think he'd be fine defending the post. He actually showed some promise at times defending the post. If he got stronger he'd be much better. Its when he has to go out and guard players out on the floor that he has a really hard time.
As the year went on I saw that too. Stretch 4's (mostly very athletic ones) and switches on guards are what kill him on D. The thing that killed him as the season went on is he couldn't execute what he's good at and that's making threes and hitting some post shots.
Yep thats really what hurts. Defense aside. Although I do think when he's getting abused defensively it gets in his head and hurts his confidence then carries over and effects his offensive game.
I think that IF Wiltjer has any thoughts on transferring, they won't come about until after the recruiting class is finalized and we see who returns, if anyone does. It could get very crowded next year if at least two players return and we add one more to our current class. I think red-shirting is also a possibility, and it is one I actually think could help him. Kid has got to get stronger and quicker if he wants to do anything other than sit on a bench in the NBA.
