"Word on the street is that forward Anthony Bennett, the Findlay Prep (Nev.) forward ardently recruited by Washington, among many others, will pick either UNLV or Florida."
Interesting. Why the hell would he pick Florida? Doesn't make much sense to me, but
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
Why not, Florida is a solid program. Lets see two national championships, an elite 8 last year, and a Sweet 16 at worse this year. If Brad Beal stays which I'm not sure if he will or not and Young stays along with Boynton, Wilbekin, and Casey Prather starting to come into his own they've got a solid squad again next year. They are missing a really good PF like Bennet as well.
Yeah, Florida wouldn't be a bad choice at all for him.. If Young and Beal stay and he comes on board, they're gonna be scary good..
Beal is being projected as a lotto pick in nearly every mock draft. Id say he's gone. P young definitely needs to stay but i can see him going as well. NBA scouting reports rave about his body, athletic ability and ceiling. I've seen a few scouting reports comparing him to a smaller Dwight Howard and with a strong group of big coming in i just dont see him staying.
I wouldn't be surprised if he did choose UF. Its not recruiting wittle Bilwee has struggled with, its winning with all the talent he brings in. If you take away his back to back NCs he's been to half as many NITs (4) as NCAA Tourneys appearances (7)
Waiver: Im not sure those are exact numbers. Just trying to make the point that he's been to way too many NITs for the level of talent they consistently have.

Question is how reliable is this info? Coming out of Seattle and a program that has quite a bit of animosity towards Cal and UK for obvious reasons. I wouldn't put to much stock into this article.
Edit: Oops I didn't mean to quote you Tommy.

Donovan's got a strong rep with developing guys at the 3. Bennett likes the style and fit a lot.

Our recruiting dominance seems to be slipping a bit. At least the word on the street has rumors to that effect. It will be an interesting April. We need a physical post player and another wing pretty badly.
What street... "Rumor Street"?
I don't trust that street.... and choose to steer clear of it.
I thought he had eliminated UF a month ago???
I don't buy this at all. To paraphrase Rupp, "Any kid picking between UF and UNLV with the list of schools he has isn't smart enough to come to UK."
You may be thinking of Noel.
As for Bennett, it's really anybody's guess. He's played things very close to the vest throughout the entire process and hasn't done very many interviews at all. But I think Florida is as good a guess as any.
Not to mention a bunch of good 4s.
Bonner and Parsons are probably the most comparable players along with Erik Murphy.
All three of those are 4 year guys. I doubt Bennett sees himself as a 4 year guy.
Which is funny because I think he goes to Florida too but if it's because he thinks Billy does a better job using and developing his stretch 4 guys than Calipari than he's been snowed.
While Bennett is a very good outside shooter, his bread is still going to be buttered in the paint. If he's watched at all how Florida uses Patric Young, he may think twice about Florida.
Guards jack up all the shots, bigs rarely get touches.
I dont buy what this guy says. I think it'll come down to UF or UK.
I may need to clarify that I was not implying in any way, shape or form that Billy D does a "better job" of developing those guys than Cal. Just saying he's got a good rep for it.
Losing a kid to Florida would not be a big shocker. They've got a lot going for them that appeals to kids across the country.
I wasn't trying to yank your chain, I was honestly baffled by the idea that he has a reputation for it. I guess I always considered most of those guys 4s, because of the way that their offense plays. I would have thought that Billy D was most well known for developing the group of guys that won the title twice and that's about it.
So is UK out?
Good point. They're kind of interchangeable in Florida's offense. Whether it's 3s or 4s, Billy D's had some good success with those guys. Odd, given the fact that we generally think of guards dominating the ball in his offense.
I can't remember where I read it but I saw an interview where Bennett was quoted as saying he preferred a warm climate in college.
If that's true than UNLV and Florida leading wouldn't be the least bit shocking. However climate seems like a bad thing for a big time basketball player to base his college decision on.
I can't think of a worse reason, especially if you're looking at advancing to the league ASAP.
Mitch McGary's girlfriend at UM that swayed him from the bluebloods immediately jumps to mind.
If you're looking to get into the league ASAP I am absolutely flabbergasted by anyone that doesn't choose Calipari. The guy's record is fan-f**ing-tastic when it comes to getting kids into the league in a year. Whenever I see kids like Muhammed, that we apparently want badly and are apparently looking seriously somewhere else, I have to question their intelligence. Or their ethics.
I'm not sure that's a fact. I think that was just speculation.
He's from right around that area originally. Could have played a factor as well.
I know it's a rumor Chris but it's the only thing that comes close to warm climate that I could think of
