Thats clearly not all he did. CLEARLY!
Kansas State may not be a bad destination for him, either. Snyder is old and has already retired once. I don't see Gundy going anywhere anytime soon. Texas Tech may take a flyer on him after Tuberville craps out.
I don't want Petrino here, but I do want his offense. With three members of our staff that have spent time with Petrino, two on the offensive side of the ball, we should start running it NOW. Until coming to UK last year, Mike Summers was the o-line coach for Petrino at every coaching stop. You can't convince me that he doesn't know Petrino's offense as well as anyone other than Bobby. If Randy can't call the offense like Petrino, let Mike Summers call the plays. In my mind, that's the best case scenario. This coaching staff with the Petrino offense. Douche or not, Petrino is one of the best offensive minds in the game.
I'm of the opinion that if you'll cheat on the most sacred relationship, you'll cheat at anything (and probably have been).

You have to be so rude?
I think someone needs to explain to the CATSPAUSE Staff that remarks like yours is why fans are leaving and going to CI. Maybe then the mods will do their job and stop offensive remarks by members who have no manners whatsoever
You can tell how someone was raised by the way they act on line hidden behind a no name.
But you are always good for a laugh so keep it up.
The meanest dog in Taiwan.
you gave me an answer to my question and you are correct, I know nothing about him personally.
You only forgot one thing...Big East Champion!
Walt Harris won a Big East title as well.........
I think any gravitation towards CI has less to do with anyone having their little feelings hurt and more to do with craving the unmoderated, uninformed hivemind that exists over there.
It smells like microwaved homeless people in here.
Who doesn't have a Big East title....I got mine by sending in five box tops of Cookie Crisp cereal.
ROFL! Sure, whatever... CI is so much more civil. LMFAO!
classic tommy. ROFL!
False. Look at how he left UofL? they were a mess. Kragthorpe was the fall guy for the mess that Petrino was covering up. Petrino had players shot, arrested for distributing MASSIVE amounts of drugs, had multiple arrests of players for other issues.
What is CI?
41-9 in 4 years
4 straight thumpings of instate archrival
Comming off a 12-1 season where they won their conference, went to and won the Orange Bowl.
Left a roster featuring about 20 guys who would go on to be drafted by or signed as undrafted free agents by the NFL.
Were consensus preseason top 5 going into the 2007 season.
Mess? Wish we had a coach leave us in that kind of mess. The only player I can remember them having who got shot was Trent Guy, and that occured in 2008 - after Petrino left. The only drug dealer I can remember being arrested at UL was the infamous Jointa Woodard - who played for Johnelle Smith, before Petrino got there.
You are buying into the Tom Jurich spin that he sold to the media as to why his good friend and hire Kragthorpe was such an awful, terrible coach. Jurich did everything he could to point the finger of blame at Petrino for UL's struggles in 2007-2009 rather than at himself and his good friend/his hire. UL wasnt any big trainwreck of a mess when Petrino left them for the Falcons, a competent head coach would have won 10+ games with that roster with ease.
Krag inherited a huge mess. Immediately a lot of Petrino's guys were ineligible and others were in trouble with the law. Krag took a bad job. He was not allowed to pick his staff as the prior arrangements especially with the Brohm family hamstrung him as soon as he arrived. Krag is not a bad coach he just jumped on the wrong wagon. Petrino is a liar and if you are that dishonest it was only a matter of time before he ran into the NCAA. You cannot compartmentalize integrity.
Instead of not very smart I should have said misinformed because thats what you are continuously.
They literally had no one back on the defensive side of the ball Kragthorpe's first year or at least thats how it seemed. They gave up 40 something pts against MTSU 2nd game of the year that year.
One thing that is irrefutable- the guy can coach football. If you took away the idiocy of his recent decisions and his general jackassery and the guy would be a top 5 coaching commodity.
You guys that keep up the fight that Petrino is a great commodity and will be scooped up at the first opportunity should ask yourselves this.
Why would a program that went 11-2 last year, and is projected as top 5 this year and is one of the favorites to win the SEC, why would the administration be so quick to pull the trigger on the head coach that put them in that position?
It wasn't because he has a bad reputation.
It wasn't because he went behind UL's back to talk to Auburn.
It wasn't because he left the Atlanta Falcons before the season was over.
And it most certainly wasn't because he had an affair.
He was fired for two reasons,
1. he put the university and the administration at risk of several major law suits
2. when asked about these circumstances he lied to the administration
One of the posters above brought up Rick Pitino and there is some correlation in that Pitino and UL have proven that a coach can survive a scandal over an affair, no matter how embarrassing the details may be. If it were only an affair Petrino would still be the head coach at Arkansas.
And the reason Arkansas fired him so quickly is the same reason other universities will be reluctant to hire him. A coach can have any number of personal flaws, drinking, gambling, etc., and still get a job, administrators will put up with a lot to get a winning coach. What they won't tolerate is a coach that is willing to put a university at risk as well as risking the jobs of his superiors.
"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart 11/4/12
And your argument is that he won't be scooped up at the first opportunity?
The guy is a known sleazeball but that won't keep him from getting hired. There's plenty of precedent for that fact.
Completely true that Kragthorpe was hamstrung because Jurich forced him to retain many members of Petrino's staff. Oh by the way they were the assistants who Petrino didnt think were that good because he didnt bring them with him to the Falcons (like he did Summers). But the fact that he didnt have the freedom to hire his own staff isnt Petrino's doing, but Jurich.
