Criticism helped refocus La'Rod King

Joker Phillips took senior receiver La'Rod King to task for his play during spring camp, but the criticism struck a chord and helped King refocus.

Now he just needs to make sure he tucks that ball away after the catch. Had a couple costly fumbles last season.

He did show nice maturity in letting the comments motivate him and not just getting pissed about them. A lot of NFL receivers still couldn't handle criticism like that.

Yep. The one against UL was a killer and it turned the game around imo. Could have/would have been a different season. Oh well.

Good story and good point. Ball security is something that can be taught/corrected, so hopefully that will be the case for King.

That's the one that sticks out to me. That was huge and I agree, was a major turning point in that game.

I sure hope other receivers step up as well. If he's double teamed all year long, it'll definately hurt his NFL chances.

La'Rod is a really interesting character. He's got a ton of personality, but the end of last year and the spring you could tell something was going on. He wasn't his normal self. Now we know why. I think we all forget these are college kids that have a ton of things going on in their worlds and maybe he figured out a way to limit the distractions this year, which could be big for the Cats.
