Current SEC Head Football Coaches

  • Where did they come from before they got there present job?

HC BCS school: Miles (OK St), Chizik (Iowa St)

HC non-BCS School: Dooley (LA Tech), Pinkel (Toledo), Freeze (Arkansas St), J L Smith (Weber St), Sumlin (Houston)

BCS Coordinator: Phillips, Mullen, Franklin, Richt, Muschamp,

    NFL: Saban, Spurrier

As you can see, there are a lot of options for selecting a HC. It's a matter of selecting the right person for that particular job. There are no guarantees regardles of where the new coach comes from. Just get it right.

    BRAVE DEMON

  • You make a valid point about hiring the RIGHT person. Which is why you have go with someone whom has a track record of winning and winning with a high SOS. I think when you do that then you can narrow your list down considerably to find the right head coach.

I would just like to "know" a list of guys that MB and Co. are looking at. That way we, as fans, can gauge which way the administration is going. Are we going with a young coach, old coach with experience in the SEC/college football, or trying to pull someone from the NFL. I know we will not get this information until after the next coach is hired. Either way I just want to here something soon so that we can know what kind of recruiting class UK will have for next year.

  • Good post Brave. This is why I wouldn't want to be Barnhart. A thousand different directions you could go in.

  • I think the most important quality our new coach will need is to be a good salesman. He can hire x and o assistants, but salesmanship is what we need in recruiting and to fire up the fan base. We need a coach with a personality similar to Calipari. Someone who can get people talking about UK football, and get the players united behind common goals. I'm not sure which coach out there best fits that mold. I only know that we need a great salesman with a big personality to lead this program right now.

Agree 100%. Ideally we need a big personality.
