Dakota Tyler back on the team!

History has prevented so many KY fans from getting their hopes up. I think that is why we now see factions formed among the fanbase. A certain group (i won't table them) consider themselves for realists because of history, while some want to remain positive despite what history tells us.

I have always been an overly optimistic person. Does that make me a "blind fan" if so then ill accept that i guess. I don't blame any fan for being negative honestly, again because history suggests it is warranted. But imo, sports are all about being optimistic. The possibility of what could be rather than what probably will be.

Isn't that what makes NSD so awesome? The possibility of what could be with our recruits? Tyler has the potential to be a very solid player and that should be exciting to all of us. In the end its only sports. Why not get amped up? If we are wrong and things don't pan out then we still get an opportunity to get all amped up again thru next year and the year after that and so on. In 07' a lot of us really believed we had something going into the fall and we ended up being right despite what everyone else told us. I can't wait to enjoy that kind of season again.

If anything else, i just get amped up for the simple fact that college football RULES! Tailgaiting with friends, watching the games from CWS, and just being a fan. Winning is just icing on the cake.

Please don't lump me into the LOD type crowd. I'm an overly optimistic person as well.

Bro i wasn't directing that towards anyone specific at all. I was just generally speaking.

No, it doesn't. Stop making shit up. "Stuff" being that it looks like a one year suspension. The information given was "personal reasons" and there is nothing to indicate otherwise. When there is nothing to indicate otherwise, saying that it looks like something else is making shit up.

Tyler was dismissed from the team last year for violation of team rules, from what I have been told by reliable people. That is all I will say about it on a board.

If true why wasn't it made public like the other dismissals? Hmmmm......?

I am pretty sure it was common knowledge last year and that most fans didn't think he was going home for family, work, etc. I am pretty sure it was widely reported then that he had been dismissed and is only now confusing some due to the recent article saying "personal reasons".

  • Tyler and Gibbs left the team, on their own accord. Dakota has a child. He actually left school with hopes of returning once things calmed down. He was not thrown off the team or suspended for any reason.

Strange. I was told something COMPLETELY different than that by 2 people who typically know what they are talking about and who have close connections to the program. I hope what you heard is the correct story, though.

Makes me root for the kid even more considering he's got a kid. Hope daddy goes on to play in the NFL. He's apparently got NFL athleticism. Always a chance the light bulb come on. That would be a great story.

Sure NB, it's on the interwebs, you can do with it what you want.

And one other thing, even if he had been suspended, or did something to get kicked out of school, or had messed up......it is still a story of a kid who worked his butt back to get his life back in order, play football, and get an education. And this thread should be nothing more than all of us congratulating him and discussing how HARD we are going to root for him every GD game this year.

Some folks need to get their priorities straight. This is not judgement, this is advice on how to live a happier life.

Agreed. To be clear, I was never being critical of him....just clarifying based on what I heard from 2 different people with VERY good sources. Regardless of the reason he left the team, kudos to him for doing what it took to work his way back.

That was not at you MJ, I know you are a good man, you've shown that to be true. Passing along info isn't a crime :)

    Exactly.

If someone posts he heard something, I wouldn't accuse him of making stuff up.

My complaint was the available information was "left for personal reasons" and a statement was made (not by MJ) that it looks like a suspension. That was ridiculous, IMO. Completely different than stating something like "last year the reason was reported to be a suspension" or "I was told he was dismissed"

But hey, maybe I jumped the gun in my complaining.

That's exactly how I feel... I've always liked the kid, he's a head hunter and can run with anyone... His play will improve, I also have a feeling he can and will push a few guys like Faulkner and Lowery... No he doesn't have their size but he is every bit as athleitc (if not more) and just as physical... I could see this kid making a difference, it will be tough to pass either on the depth chart but he should keep them on their toes... In the past i've heard certain SEC HC's say "I like to have 10 db's ready on game day"... I know that sounds like alot but that's straight from Nick Saban's mouth...

Rick loves kids like this, so does Cassidy... I remember reading a article (on here I think) right before Tyler left with a title similar to "Rick Minter will enjoy coaching Tyler becuase he's a tough high motor kid"... Getting a good grasp on the defense is no doubt his top priority. Competition is the best thing for young guys, Tyler's return could be the best thing to ever happen for kids like Faulkner, Lowery and the rest of the incoming freshman... I also think Tyler has the size and speed that he could be a legit threat on Kick Return. He's without a doubt one of the faster kids on the team and since he's a former RB he could end up becoming a play-maker there... I could be way off but I try to remain positive because outside of this site and a couple more everyone is picking us to only win 4 or 5 games tops.

I'm doing well man, busy. Bought the first house this year (finally) at almost 34 years of age, and have been rennovating that, working my day job, and helping with my production company as much as possible. Which is just a lot of busy, and I like it.

Would love to post more, just don't have much to say. It's the offseason and I just don't get into recruiting anymore, and I just don't have the energy to chastise folks for over-reacting to every little thing. I don't feel like defending Joker because those who hate him will always hate him until he wins ballgames. Just a wasted effort I guess.

Old age has definitely mellowed me, lol.

  • Tyler can be a great ST player this fall, but it will take a while for him to work back in at safety. I love the kid's athleticism and size for the position. I was expecting him to be a huge hitter for the 'Cats. Maybe we'll see some of that this fall, but I am not expecting it at this point.
