Dead Period could hurt.

  • IMO..the dead period could hurt UK more than usual. We are playing catch up..and involved with a slew of big time talent. AS we speak..things are picking up with Cardinal Mooney 4 star athletes LB Courtney Love and ath Marcus McWilliams...as well as MacKenzie Alexander (and by default..his twin). Smart play by Stoops to allow MacK to play WR/CB/KR and let him play as a true frosh!! Lovell Peterson,Antoine Miles,Sean Paul,Brisly Estime,Ryan Timmons..the list goes on..all elite level athletes that Uk wouldnt even be "in" on without THIS staff..other than perhaps Timmons.
    Josh,Chris,Matt...am I wrong or will the dead period hurt us or not? Hope these kids keep in touch.
    Another thing that excites me is the son of my all time favorite wrestler..the STINGER..will be a Cat. Steven Borden jr is a 6'4 250lb TE that runs a 4.49. I would go crazy seeing the Stinger at Commonwealth!!
    With all the ground this staff has gained in such a short time..id sure hate to see the dead period nullify our momentum.
    I think the guys at 247 underrated our staff..B-?? with all the 4 star kids were in on as we speak? I guess we need to let them land some first..but to even be in on a few of these kids is a huge step in the right direction, imo.

  • I don't really know. Kids do know who the coaches are, and it's not like Kentucky's the only school that can't meet with recruits. Besides, it'll give Coach Stoops time to complete his coaching staff. It might hurt a little bit, but they'll still have a month before signing day.

  • It will also give the coaching staff a chance to:

    1) Take time off for the holidays & get family situations settled for the move to the LEX / UK community.
    2) Do extensive film study of the current roster & advance planning for anticipated positional moves for spring ball.
    3) Set a travel plan in place for the 4wk rush to signing day, to lock in on targeted players for this upcoming class.

    Great list of positives Catcard! You make some vaild points and keep things in a brighter perspective. Love it! UK football needs all the positive support it can get. imo.
    I guess another positive spin could be: Dead period dosent allow the bigger name programs already "in" on the kids the opportunity to CLOSE OUT and seal a commit..could give UK time to prepare a final assault on the kids leading to Feb signing day! And if these kids are truly interested..youd think they would reach out to the staff in this dead period.
    There is SO much positive buzz surrounding this football program right now..sad just to have a off month! I really think Uk fans will be super surprised and elated when signing day is done. I think anywhere from 4 to 7 4star kids will join the current commits and a handful of insanely talented 3 stars will fill it out..kids like Sean Paul..whos film is very impressive..kid is a hitter. Brisly Estime..Boaz Joseph..ect ect.
    I think we could be in good spot to land the Alexander twins after Stoops pitched playing early and often as a wr,cb,kr to MacKenzie..you know that had to get the kids attention.

  • With the last two coaching spots still open, I wouldn't be surprised if Stoops has an agreement with the two guys he wants to fill those rolls. Just doesn't have them signed yet. Those guys would still be able to contact recruits during the dead period as long as they aren't under contract with anyone else.
