Depth Chart Changes..Chris or Josh

  • Have you heard the staff talk of Depth Chart going into Spring ball? Just wondering if rumors are true that they've made one public to the team?

    Thanks in advance of coarse

  • A depth chart before spring practice? What's the point? Lol. No depth chart has been made public. Staff is giving everyone a clean slate. Naturally they have some ideas but installing a depth chart before you've seen one of them work your system is bad business.

  • LOL....that's what I thought also, but on another site....*&^%$$##(* BBK) they have a heading stating that they told the team of the Depth Chart.

I know that our site is much more connected, and in tune with the staff than any other site. I just thought it would be interesting discussion, so thanks for the clarification>

My guess is they've told the players what general positions they'll be playing at the outset of camp. From that point they'll let them make their own on-field impressions. But frankly, the depth chart doesn't really mean much at the start of spring camp given it's an entirely new staff with two brand new systems. I wouldn't put much stock in one at this point.

  • Unfortunately, the only thing that hasn't changed thus far under the Mark Stoops era is that we are still the last BCS school to update our official website's team roster to reflect the new player weights, classes, and positions. Almost every other school has those updated in January and at the absolute latest by mid-February. The delay we have in doing this every year could hurt us in recruiting since prospective recruits might get confused as to who is returning in the fall when they look at the outdated roster posted on the official website.

We'll see some sort of depth chart when the Spring Media Guide gets posted a few days prior to the start of practice. I'm really curious to see who's listed as Safeties, Corners, LBs, and DEs.

I doubt that's an issue with recruits. The coaches make sure they know what they need to know. They're probably looking at sites like ours far more than the official athletics site anyway.....which brings me to a related subject... we already have the roster updated on our site. woot
