Kentucky has had just two former players elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the latest of which will be honored this Saturday when the Cats host Georgia at Commonwealth Stadium. Dermontti Dawson, who was recently enshrined into the Hall of Fame, will be the man of honor for Dermontti Dawson Day.
The center was a seven-time NFL Pro Bowl selection and a second round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1988 after starring at Kentucky. The Lexington native played at Bryan Station High School and joined George Blanda as former Cats in the Hall of Fame.
Dawson will be signing autographs in the Wildcat Refuge two hours before kickoff. Dawson will be honored on the field during the game, while the first 10,000 fans in the stadium will receive a Dermontti Dawson rally towel.
Sad that it'll be in front of a terrible crowd.
Glad they are doing it though.
