Dickie V offers his "Super 7" for 2012-13

Louisville is returning everyone to a Final 4 team. Preseason #1 is legit for them. They won't keep it but it's hard to argue against it.

No they are not. They lose their two of their top 3 scorers as Chris Smith and Kyle Kuric both graduate this year. Jared Swopshire & Elisha Justice transferred out too.

  • Yes but did Lville not get the kid back who was hurt this yr. They will be a top 5 school if no one gets hurt for them they are very thin, But Looserville has a great chance at being a top 5 school by yrs end.

Remember the top 25 or what ever is how you think they will finish at the end of the yr.

Wow when was the last time UNC and Puke were not listed in the top 7 by Dickyacc V.

  • UK by yrs end can be just as good as this yr, it all depends on how UK can jell as a team and if the Freshmen can improve as the yr goes on. Plus as a huge note who comes back makes all the diff in the world.

Just as good as this year. WHOA NOW! We had a Senior sharpshooter and leader, two Sophomore studs, and one of the greatest freshman in college basketballs history. We can end up as the best team in college basketball next year and still not be near the level we were at this year. NO ONE IS COMING BACK! Might as well accept it and move on.

  • OK so when say Lamb and Teague come back will you say ok you were right.
Doubt it. Did you think that Jones would be back last yr. NO you prob did not.
You must be a half glass half empty kind of guy. Uk will have a sharp shooter back KW.
They will have hood back and they will have a very good PG back for his SR yr.
UK by yrs end can be just as good as this yr. That is my OP so don't put it down. Just give me and us your OP.

I respect your opinion but if you think this years team can be as good as last years team your gonna be disappointed.

I agree I don't think next's years team will be able to match this title team, however, with the state of college basketball they may not have to be.

I'm not ready to agree with that yet.... I think we all may be surprised by how well they match up to last year's squad. Noel has the biggest shoes to fill, but as long as he's close to matching Davis on the defensive end, his lack of offensive skills can be made up by other players... the additional depth will help. I'm convinced Poythress has what it takes to replace MKG. I'm convinced Goodwin has what it takes to replace Lamb. The added depth at the 4/5 will help to replace Jones. With that said, where I actually give this year's team the edge over last year's team.... is with Harrow. Teague started out slow and was inconsistent most of the year... but he came on strong at the end to help lead us to a championship. i will grant him that... but I believe Harrow will start out much stronger, understand Cal's system better, remain more consistent and finish even stronger. I'm counting on Harrow to make the difference... and lead us to #9.

I tend to agree with this comparison, but you did not address the bench. Wiltjer next year should be better than Wiltjer last year, and I like the swap of a healthy Hood in place of what Vargas provided as the #8 player in the rotation and your point of some improved depth at the 4/5 position you mentioned. However, where I pull short is who can step in and deliver the contributions on and off the court that Darius Miller provide.

I think Calipari needs to sign a couple of more for next year to solidify that extra 4/5 depth, and if Lamb were to decide to return, that would push this team clearly over the top.

No doubt... Lambs return would ring the bell. I hope Wiltjer has a greater impact, but I'm counting on our added depth to help out there.. As for Miller's replacement, that will be tough... but I really hope that Hood will fill his shoes. If so, even without Lamb, I will like our chances of another return to the final four.

If that's what college hoops looks like for next year, it's going to be another down year overall.

Most of the country has figured out that this is the general state of college hoops.

Thats a lot of reaches and what if's if you ask me. Its possible that all those things happen but even if they do you don't have Darius Miller as a senior off the bench hitting huge shot after huge shot in leading us. Your missing the cohesion that last years team had, the chemistry, the leadership. It was a special team. I have a hard time believe too that Noel can replace probably the best freshman of the last 30 years either in Davis at any aspect of the game although he will block some shots. Will he be able to stay out of foul trouble, will he block the ball and keep it in bounds and start fast breaks like Davis? Davis was just unbelievably special. Where exactly is the added depth that will replace Jones. Right now we've got Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Wiltjer, Noel probably starting with Hood, Beckham and Cauley off the bench. None of those guys on the bench would have cracked the rotation last year and you think they'll be able to replace the defense, the banging inside, the rebounding, the scoring of Jones. I highly doubt it. Harrow if he is better than Teague its certainly ain't by much. I can promise you that. I don't care if he has a year in the system or not.

And for the record I'm basing this off nobody coming back because nobody is gonna come back.

Don't look at this as negative either. There were times last year when I just wasn't into it all that much. I knew we were gonna hand it to teams. Nothing mattered until like the final four. We should have won the national championship and we did. This coming year on the other hand is gonna be a little different. We're gonna lose some games, we're gonna go through some slumps, we're gonna have to rise up and really get better. Thats really fun for me to watch as a fan. Next years team is still going to be really good compared to the competition though. We've still probably got more talent than anybody else. But this year it will take certain guys playing key roles like Hood that haven't been counted on yet during their career. A guy that people have written off. This team is gonna be fun to watch develop. Not that last years team wasn't but we had more known commodities last year.

Let me also add that I think this years team will compete for the Title. They have a good chance at hanging #9. Even then it won't be done in the fashion that this years team did it. No way no how.

  • TWIT, why do you look at the world as a half empty place. UK has a great chance to get two or three players back. Miller was good at times then he was no place to be found.
KW can shoot lights out for sure. Teague knows he needs to come back that is for sure. He needs no money and he would help him self a ton by returning.

UK can be as good if not better next yr.

Your either delusional or plain naive, more than likely busy wishful thinking, but regardless of which ever, I'm telling you two or three coming back is just beyond realistic. Its not going to happen, period...end of story.
I don't care who you know in the compliance office, why would a receptionist or whatever they do (NOT at all trying to be disrespectful and I apologize in advance if it seems that way) even know the goings on of the players and their decision process?

I would love NOTHING MORE than to be wrong and you be right. Id be the very first in line to eat crow and proclaim your magnificence, but my friend it simply isn't going to happen. Maybe...MAYBE we art one guy to return but it will NOT be Doron Lamb. Those close to him no that he, more than anyone on this team wants to leave. He doesn't like school. He's had his mind made up to leave since the beginning of the season, maybe sooner. If anyone stays it will be Teague or Jones, but again NOBODY IS COMING BACK! (I put that in all caps just for you lol)

Btw, to call people negative or "half glass empty" folks just because they are realistic, listening to Cal warn us all that everyone is leaving, and not but into your opinion doesn't make them either.
