This is pretty much a case of: If he's on your team you love it/him and if he's not you hate it/him. Not unlike Joakim Noah, DeMarcus Cousins, and other guys who have been demonstrative in the SEC.

Matt, I'm going to partially disagree with you here, but that doesn't mean your point isn't valid, because it definitely is. I just don't think it applies when comparing what Marshall Henderson did in the video above and the Cousins "Call me" gesture, mentioned by the OP (AE2449). There's really no comparison between them.
If you want to watch the Cousins play and gesture again to refresh your memory ........ GO HERE >>>>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdglZiDT-ug
1st - Cousins made his signal as he turned to go play defense after he had just dunked the ball. 2nd - Cousins wasn't demonstrative about it, and he didn't direct it at any one person or even a group of people. He simply looked toward the student section, made the signal, and immediately turned away. 3rd, and probably the most important - Cousins actually turned what could have been an ugly story and situation into something lighthearted and humorous. The Mississippi State fans who were calling and texting Cousins were using racial and gay slurs towards him. So Cousins infused a little bit of humor into the situation with the "Call me" gesture.

Marshall Henderson's actions were the most extreme example of taunting & the most classless unsportsmanlike behavior that I've seen in quite awhile. It's probably not quite as bad as Mike Tyson taunting a media member with "I'll F#&$ you till you love me, F@&&$T", but it's pretty bad. I would give him the benefit of the doubt and say that those fans must have been saying bad things to him the whole night, but I've heard that Henderson does this sort of thing in every game. I've never seen him play live for myself, but those that I've talked to who have all came to same conclusion, that he's just a punk. I was withholding my own judgement until I saw him for myself tonight, but now that I've seen that video I already agree with the status quo.
So to answer the OP's question ...... Yes, that was a punk move, and Marshall Henderson is a punk. He's a punk ass mofo as a matter of fact, and I hope he brings that trash with him to the game tonight. His S#!T talking could be just the sort of thing to finally galvanize our boys into a "team" that has each others backs. I'm hoping that Marshall Henderson comes out in the first half and goes off for the first 10 minutes, and talks loads of trash. Have that totally piss our boys off and they hit the "No more Mr. Nice Guy" threshold for the first time this season. They start to fire back with a little bit of nastiness themselves, and totally go bonkers on them in the 2nd half. I do realize that's a lot to have happen, but it's my wish nonetheless.

Thanks a lot AE2449 for starting this post and attaching that link to the video. I'm now officially fired up for this game.

Didn't Bogans and Fitch do something similiar after we beat Florida at Florida to go undeafeated in the SEC?
I have no problem with what he did. Crowd was probably giving it to him all night. When you win you can talk trash back.
After posting I found the picture I was talking about. Hope this works.
