Really bizarre that the AD is holding a press conference to discuss the present as well as the future of the program instead of making announcement via a blog.

If you are an SEC coach on the hot seat, you don't want to play Vandy as they are 2 for 2 in ending the tenure for embattled coaches!

Interesting that Mitch held a PC to announce Gillispie was fired and held weekly press conference to update media and fans on status of bball coaching search. Pretty stark contrast to how he's dealt with football, wouldn't you say? Just seems really odd that he's taken such an "extreme" bunker mentality on this compared to the bball searches.

You really don't care about facts do you. He did not hold weekly press conferences re: the basketball job. Hell, when cal was hired the job wasn't opened a week.
Please educate yourself on facts.
Informing the press about nothing (what's he going to do at a press conference ? Tell us who is on his list?) is pointless. He needs to spend his time gauging interest for the job by talking to agents and candidates, not appeasing so-called "fans" who won't what he likes to say anyway.
This blind "anti Mitch" segment of our fanbase may be small but it sure makes up for its lack of #'s with its lack of knowledge.

Was in Knoxville last week for work and all you hear anyone talk about down there is that they are getting John Gruden. It was funny because for most, Petrino is an afterthought compared with Gruden. If they are now talking to Butch Jones as people say, it leads me to believe that they may be bypassing Petrino as well. I don't know how much of this is true because I don't live there, but I think if that is the case that it should say something to UK fans about maybe just how disliked Bobby P may be. I've also heard that Auburn is not interested in him.
