Ellis plays host to UK staff

John Calipari's long and winding in-home visit road took him to Wichita, Kansas, on Friday for a meeting with the family of 2012 combo forward Perry Ellis.

  • Thanks Jeff! Great work as per usual!
While I don't think PE is a lock by any means, Cal has been on him for a whule now. I think I may believe the chance of sneaking him out from under the Jayhawks nose is better that most people do.I believe that Cal might be looking at a class of:

    Goodwin
    Muhammad
    Poythress
    Ellis/Anthony/Warren/Pollard
    Coleman
    Cauley

  • "He has been recruited by Calipari dating back to his time at Memphis."

Is it really possible that John Calipari could recruit a kid that long and NOT get him?

  • There's a lot of pressure for him to stay home, but nothing's out of the question when Cal's a player.

  • Great article Jeff. I think Perry's final list sets it up perfect for Kentucky to be the choice. There's a lot of uncertainty about where Kansas and Kansas St will fall in this conference re-alignment. By the time Perry graduates in the spring the Big 12 could be gone. Wichita needs to appreciate the fact Perry has kept them around as long as he has.

Every recruits parent needs to model Fonda Ellis' attitude.

"None of us are telling Perry where we think he should go," Ellis said. "He needs to make that decision on his own. He'll ask, and you can tell he's trying to figure out which school we favor, but we want him to pick the best place for him. We're going to support his decision no matter what."

    Is that refreshing or what?
