Every year some mid majors do well in the tournament

  • Every year some mid majors do well in the tournament. Have you noticed that it's never the mid majors that anyone is talking about? I'm looking at you, Seth Davis and Doug Gottlieb!

    I think I'm going to pick some 10-12 seed that I know little about but whose numbers look good to get to the Elite 8.

  • Saw an interesting stat yesterday: Not since 1990 have all four 2-seeds made the Sweet 16. Something to think about.

    Detroit is seeded painfully low and could give Kansas a real game IMO and Duke will be very vulnerable against Xavier should they advance.

    Saw that same stat too Chris and I have to say I think Mizzou may be very vulnerable to Florida if that match up happens. They're basically the same team and I think Beal may be the most talented guy on the floor plus I like Young better than I do Ratliff.

    Xavier's big guys can't score,so i cant really see with matching up well with Duke.

    Keepin in fresh since 1986.

    It's not like the Duke bigs are scoring machines either. Kelly can shoot and Middle Plumlee gets a lot of dunks but that's really all they have inside. Duke isn't hitting anyone can beat them.

    I agree. I think we talked about this in another thread. Ratliff isn't very big either. He's more like Jae Crowder in they play down low but are more wing type players. If UF is making shots and Young is controlling the post then Florida should win that game. Brad Beal is hands down the best player on either of those teams. I sure hope he goes pro after the season.

    I'm looking at Xavier as a real potential sleeper here. That team was in everyone's Top 10 going into the season and has great backcourt play. The brawl against Cincinnati derailed their season, but part of me thinks maybe they get it together for a last run in the tourney. I'm tempted to advance them to the Sweet 16.

    That's what I have and I don't believe in homerism. I just think Murray can do it. I have Mizzou winning but I think Murray can handle Marquette.

    I like Detroit... To cover.

    You want a completely different tip, don't think MSU is gonna walk over the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds. If anything, take the under. MSU will have matchup issues, then eventually win only because Izzo is the best CBB Coach since RMK.

    I was real tempted to pick SDST. I really don't know that much about NC State this year, to be honest, but they've got Gottfried on the bench, and I've never been impressed with his Xs and Os.

    OTOH, the Wolfpack played pretty well against UNC and Duke this year, and CJ Leslie has become the stud we believed he would be.

    I'm praying for that matchup. All year people have called Murray, Mizzou Light. It would be fun to see them actually play each other.

    CJ Leslie is the reason I picked NC State. And they're playing well when it counts.
