I understand everyone is frustrated with the debacle that just unfolded but lets try and be a bit realistic. I think everyone knew sooner or later the revolving door of underclassmen coming and going would bite us in the behind and this year it's just time to pay the piper. When you rely on Freshmen year in and out to be the backbone of your team then this is going to happen eventually.
As many have pointed out throughout the year, this is the 1st Cal squad that didn't have anybody return w/a lot of quality playing time. No leadership, no real experience to fall back on when things get tough. I still remember Al McGuire used to say that the best thing about Freshmen is they become Sophmores. The Cats have been mediocre all year and w/the loss of their best player, they are now shell shocked. I'm not challenging anyone's loyalty or allegiance BUT for crying out loud, Cal won a NC last year and that should at the least give him and this team some modicum of slack as this is obviously a down year. Candidly, the fanbase got spoiled by the continued influx of burger boys and felt that the ride would continue uninterrupted. The crash back to reality is certainly stunning but the state of the program is strong and I still believe in the leadership in the program as well as the players! They've just got to mature, learn and grow into big time college players.
Maybe some of these guys aren't cut out for the pressure of UK basketball. But lets let Cal make that call before we just slam these kids and start throwing them under the bus. This is tough stuff for sure and nobody likes what happened today and how players seem to have regressed. What's the worst thing that happens?? We don't make the tourney, some of these kids realize that they need another year and return to join one of THE BEST classes ever recruited to Kentucky. I got it, this is UK but can't we at least have a wee bit of perspective and at least act like adults by acknowledging that this is just a down year after winning a championship? Yes, today was embarrassing BUT does anybody think this is going to be the same way next year?

These guys aren't tough. This is what happens when you no longer have any guys on the team that played under BCG. :D
I'm disappointed, but not really frustrated...maybe the go hand to hand.
I am disappointed the way the season has gone, but when you look at the big picture i am still extremely excited.
I want all the players back, would love to have them back. So many things didn't go right this year, and that's the unfortunate truth.
I'm excited where UK basketball is at, and i believe that Coach Cal will win at least 1 more NC in the next 4-5 years, and possible 2 depending on our recruits.
THe current state of KY is bright, and i just don't let one bad season control my emotion.
Maybe you don't understand, that in the history of basketball, we have never lost to UT that badly.
Not when we were on probation, not under Clyde, not even under the predicessors to Adolph.
ukaveman. You have just written the best comment I have seen here in the past three years. I wish anybody who wants to be considered a UK fan should be required to read it and understand it first. Just saying. Peace.
I can still spell the coach's name correctly.
And it is time to have concern for the lack of improvement by this team and several of the most heralded players

Stein is a project. Polson is a walk on. Hood is just getting to play, so he is just now learning the speed of the actual game. Wiltjer is a complimentary player. Harrow is a backup point guard. Goodwin is a non threat outside of driving. Poythress is lazy without the ball. Nobody understands how to get in rebounding position, and everyone is too slow to guard a man one on one. That is what it is. If you remove the best player from a team like that, you get what we saw yesterday. I've said it ad nauseum, so I won't elaborate again, but it's either stall ball and zone, or blowout city the rest the way.
