Excuses.

  • I imagine some of you will be making a boatload of excuses as to why we are the third best team in the state as the week goes on, so let me start for you:

    1.Max, "possibly the best QB to ever play at UK" was having an off day.

    2. Our power back Sanders was suspended.

    3. Western Ky is a damn good team!

    I'm sure there will be plenty more, but there are no excuses for losing to a sunbelt team. We are a terrible footbal team, and a complete rebuild from th ecoaching staff, all the way to the admin needs to occor asap.

  • In all honesty, WKU is a damn good team. That doesn't excuse them pulling a Sandusky on us. I have no excuses, any more.

    They're better than what some of us, myself included gave them credit for. We could have won tonight, but I saw a team manhandle the Cats the majority of the game. Their defense had six sacks against arguably the best O-line in the country last week and they're a Sun-belt team. Looks like a damn good SB team to me. Maybe not what UK fans think of good teams typically, but that's because we think of LSU, Bama, UF, etc.

    Taggert's doing a great jobe in the sunbelt, but they didn't manhandle us because they are great. They manhandled us because we are terrible! There is not another SEC team that Western would be within 2 scores of unless crazy things happened. Nothing crazy happened in this game though. They just outcoached, outmanned, and outplayed us. That is 100% unacceptable period!

  • Catmando we've been saying the same thing here lately. The only thing to do now is support the players and hope mitch makes a great hire.

  • Just got home from the game. What shocked me the most was the constant confusion on the UK sideline. It went on the entire game, worse when we were on defense.

    No way to described it except to say it looked like people trying to herd cats.

  • I guess I have a hard time buying into the idea that simply because a team beats us that they are a "damned good team". I mean, we are terrible and they only beat us by one point. LSU is a damned good team. Alabama is a damned good team. Oregon is a damned good team. WKU is very pedestrian, yet due to their schedule they will probably only lose a couple of games.

    Now thats a pretty crappy thing to say about Morehead EKU and Murray State...Im pretty sure UK isnt the 3rd best team in the state.

  • Joker has about 4 games to save his job and IMO he has to win two.

    If we aren't 3-4 after 7 games mitch fire him, make him leave immediately, make minter the interim and hire the new coach by the end of the year to try to hold the recruiting class together.

    I wish joker could have made it work but it's obvious it just isn't right.

  • If you win 9 of 11 with your only loses to Bama and LSU you deserve some credit regardless of your schedule...especially when they played LSU VERY tight and gave Bama a better game than UM did. Why be a hater just because the Cats suck balls?

    Put UK in the Sun Belt this season and they wouldn't win the league. WKU has done a GREAT job in their transition to this point.

    Because, of course this would work. What is the over/under for players transferring? and yes they would, many of the best players came here FOR Joker, not for UK. This is how this fan base is, if they win next week, all back on the bandwagon, lose the next week, all jump off. This was Western's super bowl, is that an excuse to lose, NO, but they did play their @sses off and Max threw 4 picks. To have 4 ints, and lose on a trick play isn't the end of the world to me.

  • Oh, and FYI, this is happening more this year. Pitt loses to youngstown st, D2 i think, and then they beat Va tech today. USC loses to stanford, who hadn't looked good this year after Luck. Miss st beats Troy 30-24. Arkansas loses to ULM, Sun belt BTW, and ULM takes auburn to OT and the Kicker let them down. Bama beat Western 35-0 at home last week, then Bama beat Arkansas 52-0 at arky this week. Western is better than we wanted to admit, but we win by 7 if Wyndham gets that pick that was right at him or we win by 1 if Dupree just stays on his side for the 2 pt conversion.

    Or we lose by 14 if WKU doesn't commit a bunch of dumb penalties...the ol' if this if that game can be played both ways. Even if UK had won that game it is a loss for Joker and his seat just gets hotter.

    The guy isn't going to be retained and to promote Minter to Interim when he is fired would be a real slap in the face IMO to both Joker, the staff, and the fan base considering this porous D is the reason we suck this bad. If Minter can't communicate and even get his players lined up how the heck is he going to manage both sides of the football. Promote Sanders, Summers or Jarmon. biggrin

    screw that, go ahead and make the move and bring next years coach in now if he's available. Of course, that pretty much means Bobby Petrino, since he's probably the only one that would be available at this point, but we need to do what is best for the program asap. The longer we screw around, the more we will be set back. Of course, Mitch will likely wait until the end of the season, and then announce either an up and comer that is questionable at best, or a formerlly succesful has been.

    Honestly, let them all leave if they want to be here for Joker, losing to Western sets us back 8 years. We might as well start fresh with a quality coach that can recruit the best talent in the country promising early playing time and an opportunity to turn a program around.

  • Don't forget, all of this that is happening is because Rich Brooks had 2 assistants that were lazy recruiters. Just keep that in mind.

    Are you kidding?!?!?! Confusion on the sidelines? No wonder our players looked so lost all the time. If Joker really cares about this program, he will save Mitch the turmoil of firing him, and just step down.

    If not, and Mitch doesn't fire him, then he should be fired as well.

    Didn't say we were great, and I agree we're terrible. I was just making a point that Western has a pretty solid football team.
