    Hey Matt, rewatch the game and focus only on our O-line play, and then do the same with Bama, or Georgia, or hell, even Vandy and then tell me if our line looked that good? And for the record, Joker didn't say our line playd well, he said they played as well as any line he'd ever seen. Pretty bold statement if you ask me. That is why I specifically criticized it. If he had said our O-line played pretty well, I wouldn't have even touched it, but he said it was as good as he's ever seen.

    And like it or not, the reason Strong and others complimented it is because they were looking for something poitive to say about us, and pretty much Max, the o-line, and a couple of recievers was the only material they had. I know you know how the media game works.

    "Our offensive line played as good as any offensive line I've been around"

    You took that statement, that quote, and created an argument to fit the conclusion you wanted to make even though it was blatantly false. Unless you have a quote that contradicts that one of course.

    Joker can go to his "young" talent this Saturday and next. It may look like the problems are fixed, but I can assure you they will show back up come Florida game. The young guns may look better than those being replaced from the UofL game only because you are going from a 25th ranked team to Kent State and Western, a big difference in talent level. Just like last year. Here we go again, going to start changing out players and jumping the gun rather than going with what spring ball and fall camp told the coaching staff. If the coaching staff missed as bad as some of you say they did, what does that say about the coaching staff? We did this throwing players overboard last year after one or two bad games or mistakes and look where it took us. oh boy..........

    You need to be more specific about what it is that has you all bent out of shape. Which of the moves on the depth chart this week do you disagree with? Tell us which one of the following YOU believe to be a mistake by Joker or just another act of him replacing players on a whim:

    Shields as the firm #1 over Robinson at TE instead of it being "Shields OR Robinson" like it was in week 1;
    Sweat up to #3 outside WR behind King and Robinson;
    Boyd up to #1 outside WR ahead of Fields on the other side;
    Collins up to #1 slot WR ahead of McCaskill;
    Mobley up to #3 RB ahead of George;
    Coleman up to #2 DT ahead of T. Johnson (in Cobble's spot);
    McDuffen up to #1 WLB ahead of Brause.

    That's it. That is all of the depth chart moves this week. I don't know which one of those you could POSSIBLY be bitching about. If none of those, are you just mad that some young studs like Sweat, Legree, Mobley, Taylor, Whitlow, Henderson, Pancho Thomas, D. Blaylock, Tiller, Harmon and Quinn are poised to get more P.T. this week if we have a good lead or if the older guys continue to blow their assignments? You are fighting a losing battle if that is your beef.

  • Even with the loss, Joker seems to be more set in his ways. He seems more comfortable this year. You actually start thinking that he knows what he is doing and that he is confident in his team. I'm not over Joker yet, but his leash is starting to unravel. This has to be a statement game, so we can get back in there for the following week.

  • Considering we threw the ball 51 times, the o line did a great job of protecting Max.

    Good point although most were quick hitters but they still did their job nonetheless plus we ran the ball well. I think we could have really gashed them with the run if we wouldn't have been behind.

    I may have been lazy and not looked up the exact quote while I was typing, but how is that blatantly false? Joker’s the one that said it. Joker’s been around a lot of O-lines, including the one’s he faces every week in the SEC. I guess you are implying that he only meant O-lines of teams he’s been a part of? Well, that’s not how I took it, but OK, I’ll play along. If that’s what he meant, that means he thinks our O-line this year is better than all the teams he’s coached including the Minnesota, Notre Dame, and USC teams he coached under Lou Holtz, and the UK 2007 team too. Oh yeah, and since he played for the Redskins 2 years, I guess our O-line is better than their’s too?

    It’s real easy for you guys to pick on a mild mistake in someone’s post to avoid dealing with the topic at hand, but the gist of what I said still holds true. Either Joker is embelishing to try to cover up our overall ineptitude, or he is not a very good judge of what makes a great O-line. Neither of those is acceptable to me

    Cat, you're taking a relatively benign statement meant to praise a group of players who performed well last Sunday, and way above most fans' expectations.

    Phillips said "Our offensive line played as good as any offensive line I've been around."

    You have interpreted that to mean "Our offensive line is the best offensive line I've ever been around."

    The difference is the bolded part. The offensive line executed well and played well on Sunday. For their youth and inexperience at spots, playing "good" means exactly that. They executed and played well, obviously very well in Phillips' opinion.

    The biggest problem is that each and every statement, no matter how benign, that Phillips and the staff make is instantly parsed, re-interpreted, and spun in the most negative light possible. Which would be fine if just one poster did that, as we could all just ignore that poster. But after one willful misinterpretation, 7 other posters jump in clinging to the first poster's misinterpretation or misstatement as gospel.

    Let me explain. When you call someones statement stupid you are calling them stupid. Not hard to understand but a fact!

    Didn't make up anything. You've shown your hatred for Joker. We all get it. you don't like him. It's your right. Just don't call names is all I'm saying.

    Also you never responded about the o-line play. That says a lot right there.

    Although I agree with your football arguement, you lose all credit to your point when you say this. You can say someone said something stupid without meaning the person is stupid. That is just common sense. You can also say a coach made a stupid decision or call during a game without saying the coach is stupid.

    Come on, you understand this, you just don't want to back down on anything out of stubborness.

  • I think maybe we are focusing on a minor part of a bigger piece.
