It may be unprecedented, but I think we'll see Cal take a more active role in helping build our football program by using his relationships, marketing skills, etc. And I think he'll have an impact. He's already outspoken on his personal role of "impact" as well as issues such as conference realignment, the role of the NCAA, etc.
It won't be long after that until some folks will recognize the financial impact Cal has had on FB and our athletics program as a whole, and some will begin to estimate the value that Cal brings to UK outside of his day job, which is and will be tremendous.
With what he'll get to do, the impact he'll make, etc., there could be no better AD to replace MB at the end of their current (and concurrent) contracts than Cal. I could see him leaving coaching having helped UK surpass UCLA in all-time championships and then I could see his swan song as becoming the most impactful AD ever in NCAA history - or whatever the governing body may be in 2018.

I prefer 2028 as well!
Now that someone else has brought this up, I hope Stoops and Cal team up. What I mean by that is I hope Cal uses his connections with pop culture (Drake, Jay Z, even LeBron) to help Stoops sell the football program. I don't care what sport you play those guys hold weight with these kids. Cal should invite those guys to some early September/October football games.

Number 1 even Cal wont catch the ULCA record in NCs by 2018 and would take a few more years than that. It may be a grand thought to have Cal as AD and of course I would love it but Cal wouldnt take it IMO. By sometime between now and 2018 if Cal decides to sign a contract extension for however many years, after that he will be up in his 60s and I feel he will be ready to retire period so he can enjoy his family especially his children and grandchildren. I ffor some reason he would take the job we would be lucky to get him.

3 in 6 years to tie at 11, 4 in 6 years to reach 12 is not impossible...to your point I think he may extend his contract but maybe not given what MB has said previously about tying his contract to Cal's.
AD is not a physically rigorous job and I could easily see a guy like Cal have a blast as UK AS well into his 70's.
Maybe that's wishful thinking.

Fast forward to 2018 - Calipari as AD
