Favorite UK/UofL football moments

  • With kickoff a little over a week away, what are some of your most memorable UK/UofL football moments?

    I'll kick it off.

What about in Jared Lorenzen's first start at Louisville in 2000? I remember the first time he touched the ball scrambling for like 20 yards. I was like, "what the hell is going on!?" haha. Had no idea he could move like that at the time.

That was a crazy game with the thunder/lightning, etc.

  • Watching Tim Couch and crew leave the inaugural game of PJ Pizza Pit with decisive victory and made the place miserable for all ul fan's that day. Adding in the heat factor during the game kinda like scorched earth when we left (or burnt pizza)!!

  • When was the other thunder lighting game in the mid 2000's with the rain delay? I think we lost it but before the game during the rain delay, myeslf, a fraternity brother, and the rest of the drunkest of the drunkest were all still in the front rows of the student section going crazy. People started running on the field, my buddy looks at me and says, "Lets run on the field!" My response was, "you run on the field!" So he climbed the wall with my help, accrues 6 positive NCAA rushing yards and promptly mud slides and is promptly arrested.

That is probably my fondest memory of the UK/UL games, followed by Stevie getting loose and Andre fumbling the ball while out of bounds within the ten.

  • OK, I just realized it said UK/UL memories, so I'll have to go with mopping the field with ragones arse all day long!

  • I think it was 2002 - I was sitting in the UL student section in KY blue. Watching the venom of the UL students slowly seep out their pores after Ragone got pummeled play after play.

    That was sweet. biggrin

  • Like mentioned above...
My favorites are both tied to the #68.

Points to open the Pizza Pit & Jeremy Caudill pounding Dave Ragone......

A close-close 2nd was Stevie Getting loose for 6 right in front of our seats....

    Go Cats!
    cheers

  • Stevie Got Loose!!! This gets the nod from me because it:

    1. Propelled UK on the national radar early in that season beating a top ten U of L and really got the fan base behind that team.
    2. It sent U of L into a tailspin, they lost the next week to Syracuse who was a 20+ point dog.
    3. It KILLED the Sr. season of Brohm and company when they all thought they were going to the national title game.
    4. It was the beginning of the end for poor Krags...before he even got started.
    5. It ended the streak of U of L wins against us and we started our own streak against them.

  • I have to go with "Stevie got loose!!" too. I still remember that play as vividly as if it just happened.
I also remember holding my breath and asking myself "where is the penalty flag? I just know the refs are gonna throw a late flag against us"........... but they never did. It was a clean play from start to finish. Big win! And I know we'll have more of those, if these new WR's are anywhere as good as Stevie Johnson was.

gotta go with Stevie got loose!! Also, that one game propelled Stevie on to one heck of a season, getting drafted and now becoming a millionaire with Buffalo and becoming their #1 receiver!! All of that started with that game. MAN that was some kind of offense we had that year.

  • I'm going to go out of the norm, I guess. Myron Pryor's dash. If it wasn't against UL, well, shrug

  • Lots of great ones in this thread

One of the best was the first quarter of Mumme's first game in 1997 where Couch and Co. just torched UL 21-0 with the crowd going crazy. After the total abscense of any semblance of offense or excitement during the Curry years, it was an amazing start to a lot of fun the next two or three years.

The excitement leading up to the very first game in 1994 was amazing, everybody in the state was anticipating that game and tickets were damn hard to come by.

  • Myron Pryor TD and Stevie TD were huge, I was 6th row during Stevie's and I cannot recall the place ever being louder. But, for me, the two specific moments that were my favorite both came from the '07 upset of UL and Brohm. My dad and I had done what we always do when tailgating for a game in which UK is decided underdogs, and spent the afternoon drinking beer, playing out the early scenarios needed to pull off the upset. Therefore, when our exact premonitions came to life in that '07 game on the first 2 possessions, we both looked at each other and knew it was UK's night!! So, for me......

    1) UK recovering the fumble on the opening KO against UL in '07

    2) UK intercepting Brohm on the very next possession (think it was Lindley)

  • I gotta go with Myron Pryor's TD. Anytime a D-lineman scores a TD it's special.

    ^^^Mine too^^^

To be honest though... my favorite moments are every time the final second ran off the clock when UK had more points on the board.

  • Gotta go with something not mentioned....Ashton cobb's hit in '07 on the kickoff return was crazy. Driving the dude back like 15 yards lol

  • My favorite memory was the pic of Jeremy Caudill standing over Ragone in the '02 game. That image will always be in my mind. I've searched for the pic over and over but can't find it anywhere; if some of you could help me, I would love to make it my sig.
