Favorite UK/UofL football moments

  • I know this game has been mentioned, but the Tim Couch led Cats in the opening game of Papa Johns. The beating that Snedagar put on Redman was epic. I remember the one hit where he caught him helmet to helmet. The dude brought the pain when he hit opposing players.

Also loved the first game in the Mumme era. I was in the stands with my dad. The last game we were at prior to that was the 3-0 Indiana game in Curry's last year. Needless to say we were pleased with the offensive explosion.

    This!

I must have been sitting close to you for that Stevie catch.

I'm right there in section 126...

Actually went on the field. Somehow I have the PYLON from that corner of the endzone as a souvenir.

    GO Cats!
    cheers

I think it was 2002 - I was sitting in the UL student section in KY blue. Watching the venom of the UL students slowly seep out their pores after Ragone got pummeled play after play.

    That was sweet. biggrin

Was in the stands in 2002. Ragone got demolished. Also remember Ernest Simms taking a short screen and turning it into like a 68-yard touchdown.

Oddly enough, the general sentiment going into this year's game feels a lot like it did that year. UK was supposed to get smoked according to some. Didn't turn out that way.

Exactly... I've been sensing the same thing. The closer it gets to game time, the more it feels like 2002.

  • What about Randall Cobb's 51-yard touchdown run at Louisville in 2010? What about his one-handed stab at midfield the play before?

With kickoff a little over a week away, what are some of your most memorable UK/UofL football moments?

    I'll kick it off.

What about in Jared Lorenzen's first start at Louisville in 2000? I remember the first time he touched the ball scrambling for like 20 yards. I was like, "what the hell is going on!?" haha. Had no idea he could move like that at the time.

That was a crazy game with the thunder/lightning, etc.

Our first win over the cards when the series resumed was special. Having said that I hope my most memorable moment comes next Sunday in P J’s stadium when the game ends in quarter 4 and our Wildcats get the upset win. Go Blue!

Or Locke scoring on the second play of the game from about 35 yards out? That shut the newly renovated PJCS up in a hurry. The crowd was never into the game the rest of the day.

I think that is something that has to happen next Sunday, getting an early score to try and take their crowd out of the game

UK started that game off with a bang. Had the PA pass to La'Rod King and then Locke's run to put them in the endzone. I'm sure they'd like a similar start on Sunday.

My favorite memory was the pic of Jeremy Caudill standing over Ragone in the '02 game. That image will always be in my mind. I've searched for the pic over and over but can't find it anywhere; if some of you could help me, I would love to make it my sig.

    Ahhhhh.... one of my favorites....
