  • 5 wins. UL, Kent State, WKU, Samford, and a 5th win from either Vandy, UT, or MSST.

    Big Sarge

  • 6 wins. UL, Kent St, WKU, Samford, and 2 of 3 from MSSt (home), UT and Vandy (home).

    Chiuk

  • i think uk wins 7. ul ut vandy miss st kent st samford wku.

    quagmire

  • Between robinson king fields shields collins sweat. uk passing game will be greatly improved. Not to mention the catches the rb will have. i think smith could have a very nice year. 2500 21 tds

    quagmire

  • We win 6.

Win the first 3 (UofL, Kent, WKU) and the last 3 (Vandy, Samford, UT) and hope for no injuries or demoralizing defeats and to get better in the middle 6.
But it all starts with winniing game 1.

    Go Cats!
    cheers

  • Why is Missouri getting a pass? They have only 4 starters returning on each side of the ball. And defensively they stunk last year!! They have like us only 2 starters back on the O-line, I mean are they that imposing that no one even hints we can beat them? I believe this will be a road win for us late in the season. 6 wins

    stonewall011

  • We will beat Vandy, and our 3 non-conference non uofl teams for sure.

I see good shots at w's vs. UofL, Vandy, Miss. State, Tennessee and Mizzou
I see "maybe's" as UGA, and USCJR

    hoptownukfan

  • Very tough question. I'll say 6 wins with a good shot @ 7.

    footballcat65

  • I think we win 4. The 3 cupcake teams and 1 of Vandy, Louisville, and Miss. St. Am I the only one who thinks Tennessee is gonna be really good this year? I only ask because I see a lot of predictions that we can beat them.

    jeffries123

  • I'm going w/6. 3 cupcakes and then some combo of ul,msu, mizzu, vandy, and ut. Don't think the other 4 are winnable.....but then crazier stuff as happened.

You're not the only one, but they have zero leadership, their locker has been reported to be a mess, and Dooley hasn't proven he can win anywhere he has been.

I know they return a lot and were young, but ultimately they have a cracked foundation which I think holds them back.

  • I have a hard time finding seven wins for this team, but if things fall right I could see them beating my projection of five by a game and getting to six. I still think 2013 and 2014 are when they could be a lot better.

  • I asked this same question last year....how is it a "fearless prediction" to say UK will win 4-6 games?

Fearless would be 7 and above or 3 and below.

Also, it scares me the people closest to the team think it will only win an average of 5 games in 2012.

Seems like you can break the games into three tiers:

    Tier 1 (must win):
    WKU
    Samford
    Kent St.

Tier Two (win half of them):
    U of L
    Vandy
    MSU
    Mizzou
    UT

Tier Three (would be an upset):
    UGA
    USC
    Ark
    UF

Always seem to win one they shouldn't and lose one they should win. 6-7 wins sounds and looks right. I would take 6 right now and go to a bowl to try to get that winning season, and that would give Joker another chance next year, when we hope he can bump that to 8/9 wins.

Well, I hope it gets easier to find once we see all these teams on the field...Impossible task at this point.

Very curious to see how Mizzou does coming over and with their new team.

It's just a headline, man. We don't have that much space. It rolls off the tongue. Not trying to make some earth-shattering statement here or anything, just giving our take on a series of questions.

  • 5 - WKU, Kent St, Samford, Missouri, and Vandy

  • You want fearless...Here's fearless...UK has a 9 win season (w/ the bowl win!)

I see UK 3-0 in the early season non-conference schedule.
    27-21 over UofL
    38-10 over Kent St.
    31-17 over WKU

Huge early upset...Streak stopper at UF on CBS. (4-0 start & ending w/ highest national ranking since 2008)
    24-21 over UF

Followed by a let down at home vs USC..
    24-45 drubbing to Spurrier.

Momentum builds again, against MSU in Commonwealth & at ARK. (6-1)
    28-24 over MSU
    24-20 over ARK

Press clippings collapse after 6-1 start...Lose 3 straight heartbreakers - UGA, at Mizzou, Vandy.
    27-34 loss to UGA
    34-38 loss at Mizzou
    27-28 loss to Vandy

Recover over the off week - Win last 2 to finish 8-4 & escort Dooley out / Petrino into Knoxville Correctional.
    42-7 over Samford
    35-21 over UT in Knoxville.

9-4 after a Outback Bowl win... Where WIS goes down 28-24 on Jan 1, 2013!!!

Man, I was going to make a prediction, but then I realized that CP poster "blueveins" was right and that UK is not that good at all.

Care to share with the board your thoughts on what you've seen to convince you of this?

Thanks for the series Matt they have been enjoyable and filling the days up until the 2nd. I know you guys have to turn the "coach speak" into something interesting for us fiends to read. Not an easy thing to do I am sure.

I say we win five games. I think we suprise UL, I just think they are cocky and ripe for an upset. I think we will get either MSU or Vandy depends on how healthy we are for those two games.

  • I see 7 wins..possibly 8. I think this team will surprise a couple of teams we shouldnt beat. We are strong up front on defense, with lots of speed at linebacker. Our offense will be strong with the addition of 2 pwer backs in Mobley and Taylor, both of whom can move a pile. Smith will showcase his Nfl arm..and I see Smith with about a 61% completion %, around 2800 yrds and 26 TD's, with 6-8 ints. I think we will win or lose about 3 games on special teams..a last second kick, a kick return for a score, a blocked punt.
Arkansas isnt the team people expect..they lost a couple of thier best defensive stars in Jake Bequette and the Linebacker. And they lost 3 great pass catchers and 2 OL, on offense.
We nearly beat georgia last year..and the bulldogs play basic football..we just lined up and whipped Tenessee up front last year..and the same defensive front is back and better than ever. Cobble and Rumph will demand extra attention, allowing our rushers and Lb's to make some plays behind the LOS.
I see us beating.....UofL,Kent, WKU, Tenn, Mizzou, Ark, and Samford. If we beat Miss St or Vandy..we have a super year.
I dont see us winning at Ga, or vs SCarolina..
We could still beat a Miss ST or Vandy..but Ill keep these as toss-ups..in the case we lose at Mizzou or Ark.
Bottom line..I think Joker has his yong team playing exicting, competitive football. It will be a very interesting year in UK football. We could take some lumps early at Fla, SCarolina,Miss St. But by the 6th game, Miss St..the young kids should be up to speed, with extra reps in practice and learning the speed of the SEC. The Cats could be a toughteam to corral in the final 6 contests...at Ark, vs.Ga, at Mizzou, vs Vandy, vs Samford, at Tenn.
