  • The o-line. Choosing 5 positions is a cheat, I know, but if they play remotely decent then we have both a running game and pass protection........if....

  • Have to go with Matt Smith and the O-line as a unit. I'm old school, it all begins with the big boys.

  • This is my biggest concern for UK this year. There is a pretty big drop between what we fielded from 2007 to 2010 compared to 2011 & 2012. I would be interested in seeing everyone's top 3 returning offensive SKILL players and/or QB the last five years and this upcoming year that they felt were the most important. Then compare them. Seems to be a pretty big gap.

    TOP THREE LAST 5 YEARS & 2012:

    2007 - Woodson, Little, Tamme

    2008 - Dixon, Lyons, Lock

    2009 - Locke, Cobb, Matthews

    2010 - Locke, Cobb, Matthews

2011 - King, McCaskill, Newton (I was high on Newton Preseason)

    2012 - King, Williams, Smith

Not going negative, just talking football with fella UK fans.

  • Really, there are a lot of options here. The Oline is retooled, but you have Smith and Warford as the anchors. The WRs MUST step up big, at least 3 of them. RB will be by committee, can Coshik continue to improve? Can Josh get to 100%? The true freshmen, how much help there? But to me, it really comes down to the QB. Can he get us in and out of the right/wrong plays? Limit TOs? Drive the overall confidence and attitude of the team? Make accurate throws at all levels of the passing game so that the opposing D can't sit on certain plays? Guess its obvious, Maxwell Smith is the guy!

  • I'll take the big nasties too. But specifically, Zach West. The kid has the talent, but from practice reports, is the one lagging. In my book, that is great, because that means Mitchell may be greatly improved which is required to have a good season and it doesn't hurt my excitement. cool

  • Quarterback. Kind of a circular argument, but without a decent QB does it matter how good the OL plays?

Agree, key to the offensive production likely rests upon the QB. I really hope we get a solidified #1 and that they can produce.

Agreed. Sounds like Max Smith looked good today.
