First of the Trinity trio to UL

  • DB Ryan White has committed to the Cards, just a FYI. Per various twitter reports.

  • White has also tweeted about something big happening to Louisville football in the next day or two. On UofLsports.com there was a banner stating something about a new beginning about something going on March 01. Interesting.

  • I think they have fewer rides to give out this year than we do. Will be interesting who's commitment Charlie takes and who he gives the axe to this year.

First of several I'm going to assume.

Oh I'm certain all three will be Cards unless UL gets someone they like better.

Not so sure on Quick. Think he likes the allure of some of the "big-time" programs.

  • This is no surprise. He is a die hard Cardinal fan based on his twitter account.

I know Hatcher's family is UL fans, he mentioned in an article once. And we all know Quick is a legacy. But hopefully they move on to bigger programs.

  • Allegedly they are whispering to recruits a B12 invite is forthcomming in the next few weeks, and will be participating there in 2013. Hatcher will pick UL soon also, without question. Kinda glad really, it will stop the incessant "Can UK get any of the Trinity Three?!?" posts on UK message boards for the next 11 months.

UK wins all the way around - UL gets in a real conference where they get their noses bloodied on the regular by Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, etc.; Pitno quits/retires in a hissy fit when UL drops out of the BE, and Joker and Co. don't spend another second/penny trying to recruit any of the Trinity kids any longer.

Now, do I think any of the above happens - no.

I think they were telling that to this last class as well. Would love to see them get stuck in the Big East with egg on their face.

  • I do find it interesting that the one Trinity player that several said UK had the best chance at landing is the first one to drop for UL...

  • I think UL to the Big 12 would severely inhibt Louisvilles history of recruiting players from Florida.
They would have not "home" game for their family members to come see.

They just began a home & home series with Florida International (a game FIU famously won in Papa John last Sept), and have indicated more series with Florida schools will be persued in the future to strengthen their ties to that state.

West Virginia also heavily recruits Florida, but that wasnt seen as a roadblock to keep them from bolting for the B12, and fighting to do so immediately.

I don't think anyone every thought we had a real shot with the Trinity kids. Unless we hire the HC from Trinity we'll always have issues getting kids from that school, maybe not even then.

I'll go on record right now. Quick and Hatcher may commit to UL but they will not sign to play there. Both will be up North or in Florida. And I wouldn't be shocked to see White end up at UM or Arkansas.

In the end though, I don't care where they go. I only care about the kids that commit & sign with UK.

we all said he was the one we had the best shot at. Never said our chances were very good, but they were better chances than we had at the rest of them. And there's lots of good, GREAT talent in the state this year. The Trinity kids not going to UK doesn't really hurt me that much. Like was said before, I doubt ANY of them end up making it to Louisville anyway with big time programs nipping at their heels.
