Flint and Ervilus Commit Elsewhere

  • Michael Flint was once headed to Auburn, UK had offered early on. Now, after decommitting, he has committed to Gus Malzahn and Arkansas State.

Guito Ervilus committed to USF on his visit.

  • I'm sorry, I understand Malzahn having the Auburn success as a draw, but something is wrong when kids pick teams like ARKY St. over UK. I kow, there are personal reasonsn for every choice but thi skind of crap happens too much. Gotta start recruiting like we belong in the SEC.

I could not agree more. No excuse for losing guys to Arky State. None.

  • Doesn't say much for AUbarn, since he was going there.

  • So this guy committed to Auburn, decommitted and then chose Ark. St.? And apparently had offers from Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, and Florida State. But there's no excuse for UK losing this guy to Ark. St.?

  • These guys almost surely had problems with eligibility. It doesn't matter who offers you if you can't meet FBS entrance requirements.

This is just too far. We didn't even recruit him after he decommitted. Every D1 school looked over him. He didn't pick Arkansas State over ANYONE. It was practically his only option. And why would he pick them over only us when we weren't the only ones to offer initially? This is the kind of crap that gets old. I never said we were even recruiting the kid. I just said that we offered at one point, just like nearly every other team in the country.

Seeing how he had offers from some of the traditional powers as well I would suspect grades or loyalty to Coach Gus M. He was comitted to Auburn right? Each case is different. Did we even get involved again after he committed to Auburn? I would guess we had already moved onafter his initial commitment. He committed to Ark State soon after as well.

  • Maybe some folks should just not attempt to follow football recruiting as there seems to be a tremendous lack of understanding.

If a kid chooses Arkansas State over a group of who's who in college football then a neon sign should flash in your head saying 'non-qualifier' - 'non-qualifier' - 'non-qualifier'.

Fair enough. I posted that after returning from B-Dub for the NFL games last night, so my thought process was, ummm, a bit foggy.
