  • Here is a little highlight video I found of him. Looks like a smart, instinctive, solid hitter.

  • Thanks for the great news JD! And thanks for the highlight clip link tWhit! Nice pick up for Joker and crew. Does anyone else notice the offer lists of the recruits we are getting this year? Instead of beating out Miami Ohio, Akron, Toledo, ect..were beating out Fla St, WVU, Miami of Fla...BCU, Rutgers..ect ect. I'm still holding out hope for Drennon, Timmons, ect. I know we lost out on Jo JO Kemp..but we will get Khalid Thomas..who has offers from Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio St., among others..and I think we should pursue Dayln Dawkins ..JD? Your thoughts on DD of Trinity?
Anywho..McClain gives us a kid that can play corner, saftey, and even wr..but with AJ LeGree and D Sweat I dont think we'll need him there..Nice tackler with some pop..isnt afraid to come up hard in run support. Solid addition IMO!!

  • JMO, but THIS is how you build Kentucky Football. Realisitically, Kentucky should spend a vast majority of their recruiting efforts in 2 states- Florida and Georgia. If you could build a staff that had major ties to just those two states, you would have a lot more success building UK than focusing on a lot of these other places.

Fact is........GOOD football players in Florida will come to Kentucky if you put in the work to get them here. It's not that hard.

This is the blueprint. It's not putting 3 guys in Ohio chasing the white whales.

And yes, Fricken KUDOS to the staff on this one. Along with Bell, UK has garnered commits from two defenders with the best looking offer sheets that they've gotten in years. Great work, specifically Nord.

UK should just keep Nord, Summers, and Cassity in Florida until Fall Camp.

agreed. i don't know how it happens but florida is LOADED with football players. if the gators keep being mediocre, kids can be taken from there.

Dude, GREAT players have been taken from that state by the droves in years where Florida, Miami, and FSU were having great years. There are hundreds upon hundreds of kids there capable of playing high D1.

Vandy is doing it the right way, they are spending ALL of their efforts mainly in Florida, Georgia and homestate Tenn. They're sprinkling in Alabama as well. It's the easist way to get it done. All of those kids are indocrinated and brainwashed into watching and worshiping SEC football.

no matter how much uk tries ohio just seems to be lost. SEC means championships BIG 200(ten) is runner-up. the sooner ohio kids get that, the sooner they'll turn our way. but yeah florida should be way more priority than anywhere but GA and TN and KY.

  • Kids in Florida and the South would rather play for a bottom feeder SEC program than a mid to higher tier Big 10 program. The flip side, kids in Ohio and that region would rather play for a bottom feeder Big 10 program than a mid tier or better SEC program. It's the culture. You CAN'T change it.

    MinterWonderlnd

  • I would be completely satisfied if UK landed 2-3 of the top KY kids every year and filled the rest of the class with quality kids from GA, FL, and AL.

Do that consistently and you will have a team competitive in the SEC.

*They have a population of over 18 million.

*Of those 18 million, they have an African-American population of 3 million. In contrast, Kentucky has a little over 4 million TOTAL population.

*Like most states in the deep South, people love football and take it seriously at all levels.

*The weather is great year round.

I usually manage to catch one or two high school games a year in Florida. I've never been to one yet that didn't feature at least a few kids who would eventually wind up at FBS school. The amount of talent you'll see can be jaw dropping at times.

  • Heck yeah, glad to have the kid.

Common sense, bro. Not sure how anyone would think otherwise. I NEVER understood why Rich Brooks essentially ignored Florida by only having Jimmy Heggins and Petri as the only guys recruiting Florida. Then they temporarily sent a guy down there for a while that didn't know a soul in the entire state, Chuck Smith. LoL

With the addition of TAMU to the SEC I think we need to focus on FL, GA, and TX primarily. Take the top 5 kids from KY and a few from the surrounding states but FL, GA, and TX should be our hotbeds

Kind of starting to get worried about Khalid. He's a kid that would add a lot of momentum to this class, yet he has not committed.

  • To hell with Texas. Every school in the Big 12 from Texas all the way down to Iowa St mines that state. Pac 10, too. Add Arkansas, LSU, and Missou. I just don't see kids wanting to do the UK thing.

HOWEVER!!!! Tee Martin very quickly proved that talented, SEC caliber players in the state of Alabama are VERY open to playing at UK. It's a shame UK has essentially dropped that state, and they have. Really dissapoiting that Coach Washington, whom has big Alabama ties, isn't setting up shop in that state like Tee did.

I think it's sopmething in the water. It's high quality H2O!

  • From today's Orlando Sentinal- "McClain said another big drawing point for Kentcuky was the SEC factor, "It was the greatest factor". "

    MinterWonderlnd

  • No doubt Minter, its Florida, Georgia, top players especially on both sides of the line from Ky, with a little Bama, Tennessee and South Carolina mixed in and in that particular order. I think Joker saw that from the beginning though. I believe what we've been trying to do a little further up north has everything to do with Cassity or else we probably wouldn't even try.

It's still early in the process. If he hasn't committed by middle of the fall, I would be worried, but I understand him wanting to take his time. Plus in a recent article he said he wouldn't have things narrowed down until the fall. From what I've read, his mom wants him to play at the same school as his brother, and in the end, I think that plus his good relationships with the UK coaches will win out.
