He left the Falcons in week 12 on a Wed night....flew to Rkansas and was doing pig souie at midnight....hes a joke of a person...none of the other coaches u mentioned did that....can he coach offense?...yes.....but he doesnt have much hardware in his trophy case.....

Ask Dolphin fans how we feel about Saban. When coaches leave people aren't happy, doesn't matter if it's week 12 or two weeks after they deny any interest in the job publicly.

How many times did Saban look into cameras and say "I will not coach Alabama," only to be announced as Tide coach a few days later? I lost count. Ask LSU fans how they feel about Saban. Ask Dolphin fans how they feel about Saban. Pitino accepted the job with the Knicks only a few weeks after saying he intended to stay at UK and had no plans to leave.

As to your hardware in the trophy case question, besides Fulmer, how many of the other candidates we've heard mentioned have any trophies at all?

I see your point on Saban but at least he finished the year....Petrino left like a thief in the night Week 12......

he has to deny interest in the job when hes asked about it.......hes the coach of another team....my point was Petrino is a scumbag......and his actions have proved this time and time again....and he doesnt have the coaching hardware to do what he wants like Saban.....

You obviously missed the inside scoop on that situation... look up what Joe B had to say about it.

There's always more than one side to every story. No excuses... just something to think about.

With all due respect to joe b, and I mean that, he has no credibility and is 100% biased in this situation. His son in law stands to directly benefit if Petrino gets the job.

If Petrino were to take the KY job.....he wont stay long....just as soon as something better came up, he would be gone like a thief in the night......riding that Harley wide open....

Coaches leave, it's what they do, it's a vagabond profession by nature. How many coaches stay at one place like Bobby Bowden or Frank Beamer?

The ONLY way Petrino would leave UK to take a better job (should he get the job in the 1st place) would be if he made UK into a winner. And if Mama Petrino signed off on it!

And if he made UK into a winner in the SEC...The UK job would a be MUCH MUCH more attractive to the next guy. As Bobby would have shown that a coach could recruit enough talent to LEX to be successful!

    IMO, that's a win-win proposition for UK!

And to drive that point home a little more...if UK is a contender...why would anyone not want to be here? We are in the SEC...if we are contending to win the SEC what job is better? Winning the SEC means winning the BCS in many cases.

  • Petrino never left a program in the shape that Phillips and Mitch have this one. They took a middle of the pack SEC program and in 3 years produced possibly the worst team in UK history and ran off one of the most loyal fan bases in college ball. Quite an accomplishment. Let's continue to whine about possibly hiring an outstanding college coach who is not moral enough for our pitiful little job.

Or we could continue to whine about how there is literally only one god-coach that is a guaranteed sure-fire success. If only our know-nothing administration would stop being so ignorant and just ignore the tiny little smidgen of legal exposure he accidentally and completely unintentionally subjected his former employer to.

  • I find it so funny that some have convinced themselves that Petrino is the only good hire.

  • Sorry guys....

If not BP, I'd go with Fulmer.

I think he will have a big time staff, recruit, and fund raise.

In contrast I find it amazing that some would rather have a lesser talent.

Have you watched Arkansas at all this year?

    Why so serious?

that same team was expected to contend for NC b4 Petrino incident. Bad coaching and injuries would be my guess. John L Smith is a major step down from Petrino. Talent is still there.

nice, so now, you think one of our most valued coaches of all time would lie to UK, just to help is son-in-law, but you continue to defend Barnhart's innability to make a compitent hire?

Where in my post did I say he would lie?

Matt, Jeff Drummond & others have said the same thing. Joe is biased and stands to directly benefit on a personal level if Petrino gets the job. It's human nature. Noting wrong with that.

  • Seriously.....all of this posturing is childish. Everyone knows where everyone else stands regarding Bobby Petrino at this moment. blah

Does anyone have any actual information as to what is going on behind the scenes right now?

I don't know how i proved your point but you're welcome. All i was saying is it amazes me that some have completely dismissed the chance of Petrino being the next HC, for one reason or another. Regardless of his ability to turn/build a program.

I haven't seen anybody dismiss his chances of being coach. I think he'd be a decent hire. I'm just not making him out to be the only good option as some on here are.

There is a significant portion of the people who post on this message board who are convinced there is only one capable candidate. To me that is insane.
