I haven't seen anybody dismiss his chances of being coach. I think he'd be a decent hire. I'm just not making him out to be the only good option as some on here are.

There is a significant portion of the people who post on this message board who are convinced there is only one capable candidate. To me that is insane.

    A decent hire? Come on?

When you weigh the positive with the negative and risks, yes, a pretty darn good hire. If none of the negatives come up, that have come up at EVERY job he's had, then yeah, it's an outstanding hire, but if some of the same issues and distractions arise that we've seen at EVERY stop he's been on, then yeah, only a decent hire.

What are these issues are every stop? That everybody wanting him to be their coach. At Arkansas is the only place he had other issues than that. He would be a great hire period.

Come on man. At least try to look at things objectively.

If you don't think there were massive distractions at Louisville because of his escepade to Auburn, the off field discipline issues that arose and were covered up etc... The Atlanta Falcons stuff and the stuff at arkansas.

I'm dismising Bobby at all. I'm simply saying he isn't perfect and there are negatives that must be taken into consideration.

Every coach has problem with kids transgressions. Hell UK had three caught smoking pot just this season. To act like Petrino is the only one is laughable. As for covered up, that's funny. I'm sure you have some factual information there.

Nothing wrong, in fact it's a good thing when people want you to become their coach like what happened at UL. Auburn flew in and talked to him. Hell that's pretty flattering to me.

Also there have been plenty of coaches who tried the NFL and it didn't work and came back to college. Saban, Spurrier, Robinson, etc....

I find it so funny that some have convinced themselves that Petrino is the only good hire.

    1. I'm resigned to the fact that Petrino will not be hired. And I have known from the second that Joker was fired that he would not even be considered.

    2. I certainly don't think Petrino would be the only good hire. But I do believe 100% that whomever Mitch hires will not have the football resume that Petrino has. Petrino is, at the very least, a top 25 coach in college football. Some could argue that he is top 10 or even top 5.

That's what bothers me when I hear media members say "Don't worry, UK will make a home run hire," or "UK will hire someone better than Petrino." To me HR hire = Top 25 college head coach or current/former NFL guy with successful college background. And I don't think there is the slightest chance that we hire someone like that. We'll get a mid-major head or a coordinator from somewhere. I'd almost rather hire Fulmer than someone like that, and he hasn't been able to buy a job the last few years.

Is that something you think is happening based on reliable information or just somebody you want? He would be great.

    usa1000

  • No reliable nothing...Just to change the subject....Too depressed to discuss some of the names that are being mentioned. Just Yuck, Yuck & Yuck...(Though a couple are fine coaches w/ potential to do well in LEX, w/ time...This is not a "potential" hiring situation...Not w/ the fan-base apathy at a all time low!)

But Yes, I would love to see B.Jones hired.

    catcard202

  • I would love to see Butch Jones too. I think most of the fine base would see that as a very positive hire.

  • I would hope so...
