LSU edges Alabama, USC for No. 1 in USA TODAY Sports poll - USATODAY.com

USC is third in return to poll after two-year ban. There are seven teams from Southeastern Conference appearing in Top 25.

  • No big deal....just half the top ten from our conference. Its honestly just silly at this point, as in video-game-silly, how dominant this conference is.

Half the conference is ranked lol.... I agree, it makes the mountain we are trying to climb seem like more than everest when you actually think about it like that, so I just ignore the rankings the best I can.. Although I am a little surprised the Cards are lurking that close, only the second team left out of the top 25? And favored by 13 against in state rival? I must be missing something.........

I honestly choose not to get too worked up about that for a couple reasons. 1) Cholly has got something like the vibe as Franklin nationally right now as far as media (I AM NOT SAYING THAT EITHER IS DESERVED, ETC.), so that gives them a votes bump. 2) and this is the main thing here I think---they play in the Big Least. That means that they have an inside shot to a BCS bowl.

A lot of coaches/media types I think don't like the glaring holes in the bowl tie-ins, and had a lot of egg on their face when UCONN was unranked until right a the end of the season when they were going to be the BE's BCS bowl rep and all of a sudden were ranked #23. Same song, different verse.

The Playoffs will cut off some of these shenanigans, at least a bit.

  • UT is receiving votes....that's how stupid this poll is.

Notre Dame is actually overranked this pre-season, normally they are a 25th....this year they are 24th....that's how stupid this poll is.

Did I miss something on UCF? They had a losing record last year and aren't a power team or from a BCS conference and they get votes....that's how stupid this poll is.
