While I certainly think it's a nice gesture, if the athletics dept thinks that people who weren't coming are suddenly gonna show to the spring game because of a poster, they're nuts. If they really want people to attend, they could start by not scheduling the game during thunder over louisville, an event that annually attracts hundreds of thousands of people from all around the state. That is beyond dissapointing to me that they made such a blunder; by doing so, they pretty much assured that UK fans in Louisville w/ young children won't come. That's a lot of people that might otherwise make the trip.
Great way to commemorate Roark and the Tenn win though!

Every year people have complained about the day and time. Its getting beyond old. This year they actually took Keeneland and alumni weekend into consideration. Since they are having the game on the same weekend as alumni weekend and having it at 6:00 so people can do both Keeneland and the spring game or do the baseball and football game all in the same day
If they had it last weekend people would have complained it being on the same day as the biggest horse race of they year at Keeneland (bluegrass stakes). Where they just drew the largest cowd ever to Keeneland.
They can move it to the following weekend, but then you are having practice during dead week and the spring game the Saturday prior to finals week.
Yet every year I will come on here and read how UK really screwed up with the blue-white game because of........

I hear you, but it's also getting beyond old that they blunder scheduling and put zero PR into the spring game. Thunder attracts 100's of thousands of people. That is a worse conflict than Keenland ever was. The only good reason to have it during Thunder is if your goal is to keep people from coming.

That's a BS excuse bro. Damn near every Football thread goes in this direction and has done so for years regardless of whether or not spring practice is closed and carries on throughout the season. Its not like his garbage just started this year because of a poor year last year or that spring practice is closed. Its tiresome and pathetic. Selfishly id love to have more coverage of the spring practice and be able to attend when possible but honestly and objectively I agree with Joker's decision. Block out the negatively the best you can and allow the team to focus solely on getting better.

I'll be there rain or shine, I have rain gear for my son and I.
The fireworks show grumblers are strange to me. Maybe because I'm in Lexington, and not near Louisville, but I can't fathom going to see a fireworks show in Louisville rather than seeing my favorite football team for the first time this spring, and the last time until any open practices this fall.
I went to WEBN fireworks in Newport for years, which is probably nearly as big as Thunder, but if it ever conflicted with a football game, hell, even a football practice that I could watch, the decision is easy.
We're talking about fireworks vs. the first look at the 2012 UK football team. If you read that sentence and still waiver, I can't imagine you were the type to show up at a spring game anyway.
