Football question for the board ...

  • I gotta go with my boy Wesley Woodyard on defense. Good gosh he was so good for our team.

On offense, I would have to go Burton or Tamme.

These are the kinds of threads we need more of on the football side of things.

Not sure Burton was a better leader than Cobb. Cobb would make this teams so much better just by returning punts and running the Wildcat. Not to mention what he could do on the outside and in the slot. Give me a great Right tackle and I'd be good as well.

Give our talent and experience on the Dline this year I'd probably have to go with Danny T at Will. That would just be unreal. Simpson, DT, Avery, and Bud at LB with the studs we have up front would be one of the best Run D's in UK history.

Thanks, Whit. I plan to be around the board a lot more to answer questions, start threads, chime in on your threads, etc.

If you have any story/content ideas you'd like to see feel free to send me a private message by clicking on the little white envelope in my avatar.

My hope is things are starting to pick up and will continue to do so as we head into football and basketball seasons.

  • Offense - Cobb
    Defense - Robertson

You'd pick Robertson on D considering what we have at DT as is? Interesting.

Sounds good man. Guys with two first names are usually pretty reliable. lol.

  • DT, IMO, is the most important position in the SEC. Yes, UK has a nice three-man rotation. But, DeWayne Robertson was the best DT at UK in the last decade. Adding him to the mix in Minter's D anchors the middle and closes the middle to the run game.

  • Offense: Andre Woodson and its not even close for me. I have high expectations this year for Maxwell Smith but he will just be a sophomore. Even if he eclipses my optimistic expectations, I don't see him having a command of the offense this year that approaches that which Woodson had as a senior. I think the experience of our WRs coupled with Washington will make them fine and I like our young RBs. Locke was a freshman RB when we beat #1 LSU.

Defense is a toughy for me.but I will take Jeremy Jarmon as he would have been as a senior. I am pretty sure Minter could figure out a way to get him on the field :D I think his pass rushing ability would do wonders for our secondary. Having Cobble (NT) and Rumph (DT) up front, replacing Ukwu with Jarmon (not trashing Ukwu but pointing out how good Jarmon was on the end, 1st team all-SEC by rivals and 2nd team all-sEC by the COACHES as a RS sophomore!) and adding Dupree would be crazy good, IMO.

    There's my two cents

I think 247 boss Shannon Terry is on record as saying that DeWayne Robertson is the best recruit he's ever seen or something to that effect.

Amazing how well he could run at his size. Reminds me a little of the Ingram kid at South Carolina that just got drafted.
