  • As things stand..joker and company h 13 verbals for the '13 class.
How would you like to fill the remaining spots?
Myself..I want Ryan Timmons..bad.Maurice Swain, Boaz Joseph. Darren Dowdell, Marquel Combs.
I would also love to land Jeremy Benjamin..but for whatever reason..hes cooled on the Cats. Skai Moore seems like a possibility now. I hope we amp it up with Lb's..Quentin James is a solid ILB with good speed..hes a rb/lb at 6'2 220. Jonathan Howard at 6'5 190 would be a great WR add. I would like to see 2 more corners..perhaps 1 more saftey. We really need TE,LB,DL,WR.
I really like some of the players we already have verbals from. Jalen Battle was a great find..kid is a beast at 6'3 200. Can play the hybrid role, or a traditional SS. Could bulk up to 225/235 and be a Will LB. I like Blake McClain..the db from Winter Park Fla looks like a playmaker on both sides of the ball. Alvonte Bell..whats not to like about a 6'6 245lb DE/OLB?
I really dont understand the Reese Phillips offer..plays for a subpar prep team..that is very run oriented. With Max Smith, Whitlow, and Towles already here..and hopefully Drew Barker coming in 2014..I dont see why we use a scholly on a project at QB. Phillips isnt a running threat..well, not really. I dont see him getting much..if any, Pt here. After Smith leaves we will have Towles, and Jalen Whitlow. Hope Im wrong, but I think we could have used Phillips ride on a kid like Jeffery Canady, Dennis Oxendine, or Kentayvious Hopkins.
I see big things in store for the Cats..I really, really love our chances in 2013..and if we turn in a special year, 2014 is loaded with talent. Both in state and in our usual pipelines. Matt Elam, Drew Barker, Nacarius Fant, Reggie Bonnafon, Derik Overstreet, Travonte Coleman, Scott Daniel are a few of the in state kids. WE are in early on a lot of major talents out of state as well..Deion Singleton, D.J Smith..both 6'1-6'2 180+ CB's with tons of athletic ability. Brandon Lee, an insanely gifted LB from Indianapoilis.
If Joker can salvage a bowl out of this years team..finish 2013 class up strong..add that talent to our current young roster..Uk could be set up for a run at the SEC East crown in 2014!

  • I hear ya on the QB situation, but people always say you take one every class. I didn't think that made much sense until Mossakowski didn't work out and Newton hasn't worked out either. No guarantee Towells works out, or he could get injured. Same with Whitlow.

  • max smith had zero offers. i trust randy sanders. and phillips is raw but has a ton of natural ability and is willing to sit for a few years which most 4 star qbs will not

  • Pretty sure Phillips lead Signal Mountain to the state championship in their class in TN(don't know which level it is, sorry), last year. He's got all the tools you want in a qb, watch his highlights.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..

  • Phillips can play.

But how we finish out this year will tell the tale on recruting. We gotta finish strong. We need LB's, DE's, Hybrids, Corners, a TE, a couple more DT's, and some playmakers.

  • I'm sorry BBD12 but Phillips looks very good, kid can run and accurate. Perfect spread QB...
