Future SEC schedule will consist of 9 conference games

  • You have to have an even number of conference games for a balance of home & away.
Don't be surprised at 10 conference games and 2 cupcakes.

  • I support keeping an 8-game SEC slate. You play each of your divisional foes and have 1 game against the West. Otherwise, like has been mentioned, you have to go to 10 conference games. That is suicide!!!

The bigger question may be, if the SEC picks up 4 more teams how long do they put up with the ncaa's bullcrap?

Trust me, I am no fan of the NCAA. I have trouble wrapping my brain around these proposed "Super" Conferences telling the NCAA to pound sand with regard to football and then asking for their checks from the NCAA Men's Basketball Tourney. Not sure how that would work.

  • I doubt we see the SEC going to a 9 games in conference. Perhaps they do just to keep money inside the conference...

I don't see the UL game going away no matter what. The state legislature will complain and keep it going. gun

  • At the very best, there will be an 8 game conference schedule. 9 is very likely, though. Regardless, UK is only going to have 3 or possibly 4 OOC games moving forward. Is our university ready for this?

  • If this goes down, there will be even more pressure for UK to upgrade football or become the perenniel doormat it has been at times in the past. I believe Joker has this year and nextto show he can take the next step. If not, I think the administration will be forced to look for a home run hire.

As for conference scheduling. I believe it will be a 9 game schedule. All seven of your intra-division rivals and two from the other division on a rotating basis. You would figure a team from the west would be on the Cats schedule for two consecutive years so they play home-and-home, If you do that one team at a time with an 8-team division, it would be to long between meetings. I think you'll see two teams from the other divison like there is now with teams rotating on and off everyyear like they have now (without the permanent western division for like MSU is now).

  • h seven in-conference teams to schedul every year, you're gonna have an unbalanced schedule as is anyway. Two teams from the west would be easier to setup in terms or rotation than three. You'll have 5H and 4A one year, then 4H and 5A the next. The trick is to maximize home revenus by making sure that all three non-conference gamesare played at home so you will have 8 hone games one year and 7 the next. I would agree that they may well terminate the UL series because of this. I don't think they can afford a non-conference home-and-home series..

If they only expand by two more athis point they can stay with the 8-game schedule - the other six in your division plus two fromthe other division..

  • Here's one way to go with 4 4-team divisons an play every team home-andhome over a four year period. I would be 9 conference games a year, with 5 home games one year and 4 the next.

3 years from now IF and its a big if and I dont think it happens, but IF Joker fails, I wonder what the Sweater will be doing. Im just curious because its gonna take a school like UK taking a chance on him for him to get back into it. I think his pride wont let him go back to a small school and UK could use a big name if Joker fails. Hopefully none of that comes to fruition.
