Glasgow TE picks up UK offer

Yes, and then we end up with a bunch of guys in that range who may be athletic, but don't really "fit" much any position out there. I know it worked with Dupree, but he is an athletic freak and is more the exception than the rule for us, it seems. I know Z. Duncan moved from TE to OT, but I can't really think of many other "TE bodies" we've recruited and then moved elsewhere who have worked out all that well. I think it is one thing to recruit an "ATH" who played QB or RB in high school and then move them to WR/CB/S/RB, but I rarely see the TE-converted-to-_______ work out that well for us.

Eric Scott was one. He got really good as a senior. It was too bad he didn't have one more year of eligibility. Dominic Lewis was another. He was solid by the end of his career.

I think Anthony Kendrick could be a decent DE or rush-backer like Ridge Wilson. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they give him a look over there at some point.

Eric Scott started out as a TE.

BOOM! Okay, 2 in how long?

I love that body frame (6'4"+ and 22+) as it fits any number of positions; however, my only point is that I don't like bringing in guys with that size, just for the sake of size and hoping they can learn another position in the SEC. I think a transition for an "ATH" from WR/CB/S/RB to any of those positions is a lot easier than moving from high school TE to college OL/DE/LB. I am even fine with taking a "big RB" and moving him to LB (something we NEVER seem to do, but is done by each and every successful team in the SEC) b/c most big RB's also played LB in high school. Its just a completely different skill set and mentality that is required for those positions (WR/RB/DB) than the spots where you would typically try to move a TE. That's just my opinion. Doesn't mean its right or wrong.

  • Can't really put Brian Adams in there. He was a WR all the way.

Stackhouse is one that surprised me. I thought he was going to be really good, whether it was TE or OL. Shocked that he didn't contribute more.

Eh, I was listing any TEs and big athletes. He fits the body-type mold. If he had bulked up further (staying lighter/quicker for baseball probably played a role there) he could have been a pretty dynamic move TE.

You're right though, he has been a WR from day one, so feel free to ignore that one.

Stackhouse was a disappointment for sure, he was an athletic kid. I thought he would've been a really nice player if he could've bulked up some more.

Just for argument's sake here, how do we know the issue isn't with the quarterback not fully going through progressions? Maybe the TEs are doing better than we think, but just not getting located. I've seen Morgan lock on to some receivers. Don't know if he's totally comfortable with going through the progressions yet.

UK should have pass play designed jus tfor the TE. Way no many time in the "progression" Newton never has the time to get to the bottom of the list and in most cases the TE is at the bottom. If a TE can't block and you have an offense that doesn't throw to the TE then why have them. Just put an 80 number on a tackle and tell everyone that your running the ball.
