I don't think Dykes I don't think Dykes is what we need right now. I touched on this in a different thread, and this is what I said:
/Dykes is certainly intriguing, the only thing that bothers me about him is the fact that his teams don't play defense. This year's LA Tech team, while they have beaten teams Virginia, Illinois, gives up 40 points/game! Their defense is ranked 117th and DEAD LAST in the WAC. WE NEED A *GOOD DEFENSE TO COMPETE IN THIS LEAGUE!
*Good = respectable, gets stops when you need them/
We don't need another Hal Mumme here. That's essentially what Dykes is, just not as inept. And frankly, no one that was on that staff will ever be hired here again. What we need is a visionary who can put this program on the map. Not someone who's gonna score a bunch of points and knock of a few good teams here and there. We need someone who can instill in his players the qualities of good hard-nosed football, someone who can recruit nationally/regionally, someone who can develop talent, and someone who can sell this program to everyone: fans, boosters/donors, recruits etc. I'm not saying that Dykes isn't capable of doing that. Frankly I don't know, but that's just it. We need someone that we know in fact that can do those things I listed. However, in order for all those things to happen, we need a full commitment from our administration and then we give this person the reigns to do whatever it takes to put this program on the map. But if that never happens, then sure go ahead and hire Dykes. It'd be fun to watch his offenses.

Dan Mullen doesn't come up much, but that would be big. Showing that we can steal a coach from another SEC team is a step in the right direction. He may win 10 games this year. He already has on 9 win season at MSU and is only 40 years old. It would probably take $4 million to get him here, but certainly would show commitment. If not him, Butch Jones would be great.
