Hatcher and Timmons visiting has to be good for us, right?

  • First of all, with Signing Day less than 2 weeks away, I can't see Hatcher and Timmons both still being completely undecided. At the very least they have to be leaning heavily in one direction or the other. Going with that assumption is what made me come to the conclusions below.

Hatcher and Timmons both coming back for unofficial visits this past weekend can only really mean a few different things ......

Scenario 1 - Hatcher is one of the silent verbals and was brought in this weekend to help recruit Timmons, Hearns, McWilson, Smith, and Kelsey.

Scenario 2 - Timmons is one of the silent verbals and was brought in this weekend to help recruit Hatcher, Hearns, McWilson, Smith, and Kelsey.

Scenario 3 - Hatcher and Timmons are both silent verbals and were brought in together to recruit Hearns, McWilson, Smith, and Kelsey.

Scenario 4 - McWilson was one of the silent verbals and the staff asked Hatcher and Timmons to come and meet him with hopes that his enthusiasm would help sway them our way. This one seems the most unlikely, because I'm pretty sure that Hatcher was supposed to go to Louisville, and Timmons had just taken his official visit to UK the previous weekend. I don't see both of them coming back just to be recruited again. There was more to it than that.

I can't see Hatcher and Timmons both coming back at the same time, when there just happens to be recruits visiting that are UK leans, unless that was by design. I think they were there to help recruit those players.

Timmons - I think he all of a sudden got the Ohio State and Florida offers because they found out through their sources that he had most likely silently committed to Kentucky. So they made their offers with hopes that it would change his mind, or at least buy them a little bit more time to see if the other players above them were going to happen or not.

Hatcher - I think he committed to UK a day or two after their in-home visit with his mom. I think that visit was to make her comfortable with his decision to go to UK. After that he sent out the now infamous tweet with the decommitment from USC. It's possible that the tweet was the only notice that USC got from him. This caused USC to send Orgeron and see if he could change Hatcher's mind.
So why did Hatcher delete that USC decommitment tweet shortly after Orgeron's visit? First, because USC had received the message. Second, he wanted to keep people in suspense until his official announcement.

I think this is one of those situations where too much smoke means there has to be a fire. To me there are too many coincidences for these things to not all be connected. I could be wrong, but I just don't think so this time.

Stoops Troops reporting for duty .... Which way to the front lines?

  • Don't know about anyone else, but I've been told good things out of the Trinity program concerning Hatcher.

  • I don't know about a bunch of scenarios, but actions speak louder than words and Hatcher and Timmons have both spent a lot more time with UK than anyone else the past few weeks. I feel good about both of them.

  • Some Louisville fans I know think Hatcher is going to UK. None of them get the vibe that Hatcher will end up at either UL or USC, and that UK looks to nab him.

Also, great job breaking down possible situations, kudos to you.

  • Right Jam, but even more than that, they've been spending time at UK when recruits are visiting, and those recruits are committing to us after that. I think they are both already on board and helping to recruit. After this past weekend, I'll be totally shocked if either goes anywhere else.

  • I smile every time I think about the possibilities of this staff not only stealing a big time recruit out of Trinity high school from Strong and Co. coming off the greatest season in school history, but at the same time stealing a recruit from little Laney Kiffin and big Ole football Giant Southern Cal. And its not like the kids a WR. He's a pass rusher for Christs sakes. We all know how important that position is for us moving forward in the SEC and how bad we've been the last couple of years at that spot.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for signing day.

  • Be patient my friends..Timmons and Hatcher are ours. there are reasons for the delays...if Hatcher were to commit now..by NSD he would be an afterthought...pushed to the backburner by ESPN..BUT..if he announces Uk on NSD on ESPN..in front of millions..that not only gives UK football a talented player..but great publicity as well. I also think that Stoops have at least 1 big time player waiting to announce for UK on NSD on ESPN.
Mark Stoops was the right hire..no doubt. Biggest obstacle in UK's way to SEC respectdom? Recruiting. I think he's nailed that. A+.
Just think of the shock on NSD...Hatcher..a USC commit..Timmons..with offers from Florida, Ohio St...James Hearns..a ex-Gator commit..the list goes on...we are beating the big boys of college football for top recruits..a mere 2 months into the Stoops Era. We are already high on a bunch of top kids offer sheets for 2014..Im talking elite level players. Gone are the days of UK battling with Ball St, Miami Ohio, Memphis, and the occasional Purdue or Vandy for recruits..we are in on kids with Fla,ND,FSU,Ohio ST, Texas,Nebraska, ect ect. offers.
Dont get too worried guys..I guarantee you NSD will be epic for us UK fans. Sit tight..keep your tv tuned to ESPN on NSD and revel in the glory of the new UK Football Program.

Agree tWhit. Uk has been sorely lacking in the DE area of late. Not anymore. Hatcher,Z.Smith,A.Bell, perhaps a Corey Smith, Talk about one helluva De haul!!
Uk will be greatly improved next year..both talent wise and coaching wise..yes..our schedule is horribly tough..but the opportunity to upset a couple SEC powers is there..Anything more than 5 wins with that schedule is a big success imo..ill be juding them on how they battle..if they show heart. The wins and big bowls are 2 to 3 years away..IMO..Stoops needs his kids to get experience. When this 2013 class are juniors..then i expect we will be competing for SEC east crowns.

Have times been posted on when the recruits we are in on will be announcing? I assume someone will be giving us a heads up on the times closer to Wednesday. TIA GO CATS!!!

Not in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen as fast as it has. Hopefully it translates to the gridiron.

One thing I like about Stoops and staff is the fact they don't engage in negative recruiting. Follows with Cal's philosophy. What a recruiting tandem for the schools two main sports!

  • If Hatcher is re-commited to USC as was reported, why are you saying he is going to be a Cat?
Seems to me that maybe he is trying to keep the heat from the locals if they find out he is going to SC. Just a thought.

yes, he is trying to keep the heat off of the local UL fans and to keep your awful coaches out of his ear.
