Hats off to Vandy baseball

  • Corbin had 11 draft picks on that team. Vandy is going to college World series. Cohen goes to MSU and has them one win away from World Series. I know you have to have players but the bottom like it comes down to coaching as well. I watched Oregon State...UK had way more talent and yet they were in a super regional. I really wish we would make a serious commitment to baseball by building a new state of the art facility and go out and hire a big name coach. There is no reason and (I don't want to hear climate) when North Carolina and Vandy and Virginia are going to the college World series and we can't even make the SEC tourney.

  • How many draft picks did Cohen have? Two? How many did UK have?

I don't know of many looking forward to 2012 under Henderson. I just hope we are able to hold onto some Jr's that threw their name in the draft and don't have any transfers.

Judging a baseball team on its draft picks isn't really a good barometer of a team's talent because of how the draft works, who's eligible and how teams choose who to pick. Thomas McCarthy from UK was the first-team All SEC third baseman and a draft-eligible junior but he wasn't drafted because teams knew he wouldn't sign. Guys like that are all over the country, and all over the conference.

But I certainly understand what you're saying.
