Hotels within walking distant for game at USC

  • Does anyone know of decent hotels to stay at that are close to stadium for the game at USC? Hotel name/phone # or hotel/address would be helpful.

  • Thanks Matt, that is what I was finding but thought I'd check.

  • If there is one, it's a pretty long walk. Seems like I recall the stadium being isolated a couple of miles from downtown in a big fairgrounds area.

  • Matt and Jeff are correct. USCjr's stadium is at a fairgrounds area away from downtown with no nearby hotels.

  • There are no hotels close (walking distance) to Brice-Williams that I can think of and the fairgrounds, where the stadium is located, is probably not a part of town you want to stay in. Not much out that way and not the nicest.

  • Williams-Brice is my least favorite SEC stadium that I've been too. The area around it is awful. I think a lot of people take CWS for granted. Very clean, spacious stadium, that is surrounded by fields and nice neighborhoods. Which is quite contrary to Williams-Brice.

That's putting it mildly. Inside the stadium, the atmosphere is great. But, the area around the stadium lacks MUCH to be desired. It's nowhere near campus and there's nothing going around the place.

  • Been to Columbia many times, and the OP might have a difficult time finding a place downtown this close to gameday unless money is no object.

Back in the day we stayed downtown but now we stay out in burbs. Either out in West Columbia where I-26 and 1-20 intersect or on the eastside near Fort Jackson.

Definitely more choices on lodging, dining etc. in the West Columbia area.

The team normally stays on the north side of Columbia out around the Two Notch Road and i-77, but that may have changed.

Oh and yes I concur the area around Williams Brice is a wasteland. A football stadium in the middle of an industrial park basically.

  • The biggest problem will be the traffic before the game. The early start time will cause a big traffic jam. I suggest everyone get an early start to the game. I have lived in Columbia the last twenty years and have I always been amazed that there are only two main ways to get to the staduim.
