How did we Lose Imani Cross!!?

  • Whitaker568 said...

Ga.Tech just offered and Watson told them he is 100% committed to UK. Nice try though.

Thanks for dispelling that. I'm a little tired of people with no info trying to somehow read between the lines and send our recruits to other programs because they have a "feeling."

Amazing how when things looked pretty good with Imani, there were quite a few folks in this thread that weren't posting at all.

I don't want to put words in anyone elses mouth, but when I see a positive post about an exciting recruit, I very well may remain silent, but I am personally excited about the chance of getting him, and to my own detriment, actually believe other posters who make it seem like we have a great chance. However, time after time, those hopes that build up inside of me end up being dashed, therefore, causing me to vent the frustration that I have grown up with as a lifelong UK football fan, when they choose another school. (which they do at least 80% of the time and I'm being generous.)

Why would I post about being excited about a posiible recruit when the odds say we are going to miss on him? Not posting about a possible recruit tells you nothing about a particular fans attitude IMSHO. The bottom oine is, those of us that have been UK fans for a really long time know the pattern, and though we hope beyond hope that it will change, it hasn't yet. I promise though, the instant that it does, we will all recognize it, if it actually ever happens. FWIW, we were really close when Brooks left, but still needed a home run to get us over the hump. Didn't happen though.

It's not just recruiting. If anything positive happens at all these people are no where to be found. It's amazing how when something positive does happen the thread dies after just a few of us comment on it. Then when anything bad happens it's the same few people who are just racing each other to start slinging $h!! all over the place and it turns into a 6+ page battle.

You can't win with these people, they are irrational. They were crying when we weren't trying to recruit against the big time programs. They now cry when we lose recruits to them more than we get them (as if they expected us to just jump into a major player over night). Then, the high rated players we do get they always are looking at the excuse for why we got them. They will forever be bitching about something until we are beating out Bama for recruits I guess. So annoying.

I always hear one of us ask a question to you LOD members that never gets answered....Why are you guys fans of UK if all you can do is harp on the negative all the time? It can't be fun. It's not a job, you obviously aren't gaining anything by it, so what gives? If you want to root for a team that can get any recruit they want then just follow basketball. Let us clueless fans continue doing what we do.

I stop posting as much because I'm not dumb enough to try and reason with those who come to the website to vent their life frustration on a bunch of 18-22 year old kids busting their ass to try to live up to the expectations placed upon them.

That's one of the better post I've read in a long time. It's also very true. Which is sad.

I think the irrational versus rational argument is a bit of a reach. When discussing sports its hard to remove emotion so pretty much every post is irrational in some respect. I don't really think any of us are clueless or even wrong to come to the conclusions we draw. There is a little truth in believing Joker is or isn't right for Uk or KY is or isn't improving recruiting. I thinks that's the point. Neither argument is really wrong. I think one thing that is consistent is frustration. Not specifically to Joker but frustration in not getting to the next level of success. I would like to see KY score a higher ranked class, I would like to see 4 star kids pledge to UK on TV but I also know that doesn't mean squat. Kids have to qaulify, stay healthy and perform on the field. I have yet to see anyone hang a recruiting banner. I've also seen KY field a team in the last 5 years good enough to beat the NCs. Twice actually. For the time being I think it's reasonable to at least wait and see what a kid can or can't do on the field. I like what Jeff said that more of these kids at least look a little more like SEC athletes which is a start.

  • Well...if you put it that way. Unfortunately, we can't seem to close even the best in-state talent...that has GOT to change if we are going to ever compete consistently in the big time SEC.

    We just don't close.

We haven't "Closed" the real stud athletic type since Fran Curci left for no particular reason....

Well Curci paid players so that might have had something to do with it.

Really.....Coach Fran was actually "Paying" players? I'm shocked I tell you...shocked! As if....every other "Big-Time" program wasn't paying at the time. We just got caught. Those were the days my friend...

  • Elvis Peacock baby. The ironic thing is he goes to Oklahoma the most blatant rouge program of them all.

I can't remember who said this, or if it's even true.... But I remember hearing once that they asked a player, "what the difference was between playing College Football and Professional Football." Classic answer...."the pay cut!"

That is the ironic thing about ESPN's "holier than thou" attitude about hiring certain broadcasters. It's alright for some...not for others. How can they allow cry-baby Craig James in the booth..... It would be hard to find a dirtier, cheatin' scroundrel...except maybe in the same backfield at SMU.
