How does UK football compare to Iowa?

No, I knew that to be true. How many first round picks have we had since 1993? Couch and Robertson? Are there any others?

Granted, some of these guys seem to just want to bash the program all day long, especially in recruiting, which is obviously a hot topic. And I know that gets tiresome. OTOH, when you see those kind of stats re NFL draft picks, it is hard to read the "our recruiting is just getting better and better" mantra with a straight face. Some of us have been hearing that since Jerry Claiborne took over from Curci, which was a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Agree. Star rankings matter. People continue to try and argue against it (citing the exceptions rather than the rule) but if you recruit 4- and 5-star players on occasion, you're going to have more NFL draft picks. Doesn't mean that 2- and 3-star guys can't do it. Just means your success rate is going to be a lot higher with the other variety.

  • 100% truth. They really do matter, especially when you are playing in the SEC.

  • They matter but they aren't the end all be all.

Too bad Jeremy Jarmon got hosed by the NCAA cause he clearly would have been a 1st round pick. Also, imagine if Lindley had left his JR year instead of coming back? He was projected as a 1st rounder that year and was a sure thing his SR year but was injured and dropped like a rock.
