How many and who, will Cal get in the spring

  • sleepydog said...

I think that Johnson coming to KY has nothing to do with the other 3 recruits still considering UK. Johnson is a center in all aspects and would never play at the 4 unless there was an emergency need. So the question is who is the possible 2nd recruit to pop for the Cats. I hope its Wiggins but it could be Gordon. If you havent read the story that was posted today about Gordon then that may help in estimating KYs chances with him. I just dont think Randle will land at UK unless the planets align in perfect formation. I think he really likes UK and Cal so it isnt impossible that he comes but it will probably come down who pulls the trigger first to commit and that will IMO make the decision for the other 2 players as to where they go.

If you see the recent interview with Randle, its floating around some sites, he told the interviewer that he wanted to go where they could win it all, and that one player that he would like to play with...Andrew Harrison. That sounds like a guy who has some real interest in our program. Plus I didn't mention Johnson, did you misread?

I and Chris both said early on that Randle could actually be more valuable to the 2013 team than Wiggins would be as hard as that is to believe. Randle had glowing things to say about Cal in his blog when he described what the coaches were saying to him since his injury. Cal told him that if something came up and he couldnt play ball he could come to UK on scholarship and when he graduated he could be his asst. coach. Now of course Cal said this in jest but Randle said that Cal really would do that if worse comes to worse and you could tell that meant so much to Randle that he said that proves how much he cares about me and my future. Barnes from Texas told Randle he was still going to recruit him. Not too gracious on his part IMO. About the misread I could have done that , Im on 23 meds a day for a medical problems I wont go into but sorry if I did didnt mean to. Thanks for pointing out that tidbit about Randle and Harrison, sounds good.

No problem sleepy, fell down some concrete steps back in the summer myself, and after surgery for a torn rotor cuff and shoulder damage, I have been eating some meds myself. Hope you get to feeling better and have a Merry Christmas.

There are 2 arrows to the right of the posting area 1 pointing up, for a + vote and ! pointing down for a - vote. Just move your arrow to the up or down pointing arrow and click on that arrow and it will give whoever the vote. Too bad I cant give myself some up votes but I cant. Just kidding but its a good way to let the person know if they have come up with a good post or thread or not.

I tell you the truth that I was that way too. It took me a long while to figure it out also, but 1 day I took a chance and clicked on the up arrow and like they say"it was history". You have a great New Years and be careful if you are going out tonight.

  • I have never seen anyone state that Randle and Wiggins would not go to the same school except you Sleepy..Where have you seen or heard this from? I am curious..

Well for 1 Chris has said that on more than 1 ocassion and Dave Telep has said it. Is that enough if not ill get more. those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.. Its not that either is afraid of the competition b/c they arent it is b/c of minutes, shots, touches. You can only have so many stars on 1 team and have them all be happy and that doesnt include any players that may decide to return.

  • Sleepy dont take it the wrong way but if that is their opinions then that is fine..I dont remember anyone saying the players have indicated as such..If Gordon or Wiggins or Randle stated they wont go to uk if one or two of the others do,then I will take it and move on..Until then,we will get 2 of those guys unless Cal takes one and Dakari Johnson.

  • Wiggins will end up at FSU... His teammate is committed to them, his parents went there and his mom has already stated that UK spotlight may be to big for him... I'll take Johnson and Gordon...

    Ab11

  • Mark it down...Aaron Gordon will be a better player than Randle....mark it down. He is def more athletic than MKG, maybe not as fast but stronger. He also attacks the rim with a violence you dont see that often. The kid is a clone of BG at the Clippers. He only player id take over Gordon is Wiggins.

And Brad is right...this topic is reworded into a diff thread at least twice a week. Lol

If Wiggins goes to FSU because he just might not be ready for the spotlight at UK I'm just gonna LMFAO. That would be hilarious.

No doubt bro. Wiggins may very well decide to go to Free Shoes but it wont be because of a fear of tge spotlight.

Wiggins is obviously the best player in the class, but imo we have guys who can do a lot of the things he does, albeit not quite as well. Gordon however, and again jmo, brings a physicallity we havent had in a while. The similarities between his game and Blake's is just eerie. And Blake wasnt too shabby in college. Lol

  • I love Gordon too. His athleticism is next to none. Has a non stop motor. I'd love to see us get him. With what we've got already just adding Gordon and keeping WCS we'll still be the #1 team in the country preseason. I'm not all that worried about getting Wiggins. Just means more shots for the Harrisons and James Young and those guys can flat fill it up. Marcus Lee is one hell of a player. If WCS stays and we add Gordon like I said we're gonna have a hell of a team with or without Wiggins. Don't get me wrong I wanna add Wiggins and/or Randle but if they both feel they are better off elsewhere then so be it. I just think its hilarious that spotlight would be a factor for a kid that is going to be a superstar in less than 2 years. He's gonna sign a big shoe contract and have other endorsements. In less than 4 years he'll likely be playing for the Knicks, Bulls, Lakers, or Celtics. Whats he gonna do about not wanting the spotlight then? LOL.

  • I had previously ignored this thread until now because like you noted this topic has been discussed ad nausem. Gave you an up, Brad.

As for a response to the topic, I'll say it again that I think Cal pulls off the unthinkable and lands Wiggins and Randle both.

Oh I never said that the players themselves have stated they wouldnt play with one another it was just opinion on mine and others part but there is certainly nothing I have seen or heard from any of the players saying they wouldnt play with the others still on Cals wish list. I hope we get as many as possible and I think Dakari Johnson is a sure thing especially if WCS declares for the draft and maybe even if he doesnt.

Nate, I hope you are correct and Cal gets both, I can only imagine how great the team would be next year. I am aware this topic has been done before and certainly anyone not wanting to respond has that priviledge and I respect that. But I do appreciate your response anyway and have a great New Year.

Ab, your points are valid and I have said them myself, but I havent heard his mother say that. Wiggins is a very shy and unassuming kid that shys away from the spotlight as much as he can and his coach has said that over and over. W/o a doubt after his 1 year in college he will sign all kinds of contracts and will be featured in the media a great deal but that doesnt mean that he wouldnt want to put that off 1 more year and go to a school that the spotlight wouldnt shine so brightly on him as it would at UK but I am not saying he couldnt handle the attention but may just prefer to put it off 1 final year. If anyone would read his interviews when he is asked about how good he is or how he likes the attention they would see the same shy and unassuming player that I and his coach both see and perhaps their opinions might change a bit.
