I Can't Believe No One Has Said Much about

  • ESPN and the thought that he would come to UK. Me personally, I don't care. I want to win football games, I want to have something big to play for.

If Joker is dismissed, would you Welcome This?

    golfnut51

  • Who is he? What this are we welcoming?

I'm going to guess Petrino? My answer is...bring him on

    bigbluemist

  • No to Petrino from this fan. I can't believe fans would even consider him after he has screwed over three different teams in the last 5 years.

  • I have been a UK football fan for 50 plus years but if they hire Petrino I will wash my hands of them until he is gone. That dude is bad news.

    The guy is a scumbag.

    PHCD

  • I'd rather go coachless and have Max draw up plays in the dirt than hire Petrino as coach.

  • I don't want him anywhere near here, but IF by some miracle he were to be our coach I'd still continue to cheer on my Wildcats!

It's like Cal, I don't care for Cal to be honest, but I respect him and will support him so long as he is our coach. I never cared for Pitino either but I supported him when he was our coach also...

  • If and when UK goes looking for its next head FB coach, it can and will do better than "Sleezy Rider."

I love Cal I always have, ever since he was at Umass. He is a winner. Yes he takes chances on some kids is that because he trust them to a fault ? Cal gives so much time and money to charity hell who before say Tubby gave that much to help people. Sorry but Cal has been tabbed this and that because he does things diff and he wins doing it.

well, your doing pretty good so far then! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

I'll tell you guys what though, somebody will give Petrino a chance, and it's likely that recent events will straighten him out once and for all. It's certainly a gamble, but the school/AD who takes a chance will be placing themselves in a high risk/high reward situation. Conservative UK would never take that gamble, but there's only a handful of coaches that are big time enough to really have an imediate impact on our program, and Petrino is the only one we'd have any chance of getting. I have mixed feelings on the matter, but at some point, we gotta roll the dice if we want any chance at changing our situation. Yes, the dude has serious charachter issues, but so do lots of other coaches that just haven't been caught. I would only want UK to consider Petrio if he wsa truly pennitant and serious about changing his ways, but ehatver happens, someone is going to get one hell of a steal as far as football coaches go. I actually still think it's possible that UL rehires him if Charlie leaves after this year.

Yes there are already talks of him returning to UofL if Charlie leaves, I don't know who started it but a buddy a work has already been talking about it.

I can understand everyones opinions but in truth I think Catmando is right, to ever climb the ladder it will take a guy like BP or else we will have about a 10% chance of landing a James Franklin type inexp HC. Those guys don't come around often... One thing is certain Mitch is super conservative so everyone yearning for a winning FB coach do not need to get their hopes up, if we have a 10% chance of landing another James Franklin we have about a 1% chance of getting BP... Even as fans everyone is so quick to judge as if they are inocent and have never done anything. I really hope all of you guys acting like this guy is a Virus really are that clean and pure, because I will admitt it i'm not... Truthfully could you imagine how hard it must be to be BP... Having women half your age throw themselves at you all the time must be hard... Yes it takes a low character human being to do what he's done but i'm not going to sit here and say that I haven't already heard rumors about our current HC... Yes I said it, some of you guys know exactly what i'm talking about...

  • People may complain and call him names but if he won at KY the way he has everywhere else I find it hard to believe he would not be supported. At the end of the day, what do you want, wins or respect. May not be able to have it both ways at KY.

    bigcat65

  • I would take him but I would like to make sure that the contract he signs is very, very once sided. Any misstep and we should be able to can him immediately. He has lifted Arkansas' program up to a top 5-10 program in just a couple of years. He could get us to be a top 25 team in short order.

This isn't about him having sex with someone other than his wife. It's about:

    * Bobby Petrino has proven beyond a doubt that he is a pathological liar at every stop he's been.

    * Bobby Petrino has royally screwed over EVERYONE who has employed him as a head coach.

    * While at UaVel, he was caught with his pants down diddling with Bobby Lowder and the Barner contingent and tried to lie out of it.

    * While at UaVel, he constantly job shopped while claiming to be loyal to UaVel.

    * Ran a renegade program at UaVel that had a good chunk of "student athletes" who were less than desireable additions to the community. Steve Kragthorpe tried to clean it up, but by the time he took the trash out, he was left with a fraction of the talent and it cost him his job.

    * Crawled away from the Falcons in the middle of the season without even addressing his team when he figured out the job was a little more than he could handle.

    * At Arkansas he thought it would be a good idea to start boinking a grad student that was not only half his age, but who he knew was engaged to another employee in the Arkansas athletic department.

    * Hired that same lady into a cushy $50K a year job (with a large "signing bonus" to boot) in the athletic department over dozens of vastly more qualified applicants, and putting the univeristy at risk for numerous lawsuits.

    * Lied about not knowing her previous to the hire.

    * Thought that it would be a good idea to take this lady on a Sunday afternoon Harley ride without his helmet, even though he was one of the most recognizable people in the state.

    * Wrecks the bike, then tried to involve a friend with the Arkansas State Police to help cover up his mess.

*Lies to his family, boss, fans, players, and the media about the incident.

    * Uses his University of Arkansas issued cell phone to text nearly 4,000 messages to his sweeite, along with hundreds of phone calls, even though he lied about knowing her before he hired her.

    * Used the same phone to send nearly 300 texts to another hottie he knows in Little Rock, along with rumored nude photos of himself.

    In summary:

    * Best (IMO) play caller in college football.

    * Pathological liar.

    * Arrogantly stupid

    * Just an all around asshat in general.

So, committing adultery is ok in some of your books as long as the adulterer can win football games? Wow! Some of you have your brain on backwards. Some of you think adultery is a mistake, but it's not.....it's a choice and he choose to do it.

And not to seem too shallow, if you choose to do it, at least pick someone attractive. biggrin

By the way, this wasn't directed at you rgunslinger; just had to quote Varsity Blues.

  • Although people seem to be reluctant to acknowledge it, hiring someone as a subordinate that you (in general) are having sexual relations with is, in general, asking for sexual harassment lawsuits from all directions: the subordinate and all the subordinate's coworkers. This puts one on a short leash, if not fired, everywhere, but exponentially more so at state and federal institutions. Those things are civil career enders. Even worse, the hiring without going through proper channels violates state laws and labor agreements. That in and of itself can be a career ender. Coupling those together with the attempted cover-up is undeniably a career ender in the state and puts serious doubt on any career elsewhere. I think most people are greatly underestimating the degree to which the fear of sexual harassment dilemmas threatens administrators of state institutions and how far they are willing to go to show their stance on the issue.
